TCG Rulings
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Dimension Fortress Weapon: If “Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter” is flipped face-up while “Dimension Fortress Weapon” is on the field, you can destroy 1 card with its effect, but no cards are sent from the Deck to the Graveyard after that.
OCG Rulings
- The effect of "Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter" is a Trigger Effect that is always activated when "Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter" is flipped face-up. (It does not target. It is also activated during the Damage Step.)[1]
- You choose whether or not to apply the resolution of "You can destroy 1 card on the field." when resolving the effect. (You also choose the card to be destroyed when resolving the effect.)[1]
- The resolution of "Send the top 3 cards of your Deck to the GY." is always applied when resolving the effect. (It is applied even if you do not destroy a card.)[1]
- The resolution of "You can destroy 1 card on the field." and the resolution of "Send the top 3 cards of your Deck to the GY." are considered to happen at the same time.[1]
- Since the effect of "Dimension Fortress Weapon" is a Continuous Effect, if "Dimension Fortress Weapon" is destroyed by the effect of "Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter", its effect "Cards cannot be sent from the Deck to the Graveyard." stops applying, and the resolution of "Send the top 3 cards of your Deck to the GY." is applied normally.[2]
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Madolche Puddingcess: If "Madolche Puddingcess" attacks an opponent's face-down Defense Position "Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter", the effect of "Madolche Puddingcess" can be activated in a Chain to the effect of "Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter".[3]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[4] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - You must send 3 cards from the top of your Deck to your Graveyard even if you do not destroy a card with "Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter's" effect.
- If you have 2 or fewer cards remaining in your Deck, they are sent to the Graveyard.
If "Peten the Dark Clown" is destroyed by "Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter", its effect cannot be activated.[Notes 1] If "Peten the Dark Clown" is sent from the top of the Deck to the Graveyard by "Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter's" effect, its effect can be activated if there are no other effects remaining on the Chain.
Out of Date
- You choose if you will destroy a card when "Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter's" effect activates. If you choose to destroy a card, this effect targets the card to be destroyed.[Notes 2]
Notes
- ↑ The latest print of "Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter" uses Problem-Solving Card Text, which makes clear that the two parts of its effect resolve simultaneously, so it cannot cause cards to miss the timing when activated as Chain Link 1.
- ↑ The latest print of "Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter" uses Problem-Solving Card Text, which makes clear that its effect does not target, and hence the monster to be destroyed is chosen at resolution.
