Card Rulings:Slip of Fortune
TCG Rulings
- If the monster being attacked is removed from the field [sic] by an effect Chained to “Slip of Fortune” the attack will still be negated.[1]
- If the monster being attacked is in face-down Defense Position, “Slip of Fortune” will remove it from play [sic] face-down and return it to play in face-down Defense Position.[1]
- Returning the removed [sic] monster to play is not a Special Summon.[1]
- “Slip of Fortune” targets 2 monsters: the attacking monster and the attack target monster.[1]
OCG Rulings
- This card can be activated when an opponent's monster declares an attack targeting a monster you control. (You cannot activate "Slip of Fortune" when an opponent's monster declares a direct attack.)[2]
- The effect targets 2 monsters: the opponent's attacking monster and the attack target you control.[2]
- Negating the attack and banishing the attack target are considered to happen at the same time.[2]
- Returning the monster banished by this effect to the field does not start a Chain Link.[2]
- Q: If a face-down monster is banished by "Slip of Fortune", is it banished face-down?
- A: If you activate "Slip of Fortune" when a face-down Defense Position monster is targeted for an attack, that monster is banished face-down. Also, during the next Standby Phase, that monster returns to the field in the same battle position it was in when it was banished. Therefore, if a face-down Defense Position monster is banished, it returns to the field in face-down Defense Position.[3]
