TCG Rulings

• Tributing 1 monster is a cost to activate the effect to return “Sword of Sparkles” to your Deck.

• If “Sword of Sparkles” is equipped to a monster that is unaffected by Spells, the effect to destroy 1 card your opponent controls still applies.

• Both effects of this card start a Chain.

OCG Rulings

• The effect "If it destroys an opponent's monster by battle, you can destroy 1 card your opponent controls" starts a Chain Link. (It targets 1 card your opponent controls.)

• This effect can optionally be activated at the end of the Damage Step in which the equipped monster destroyed an opponent's monster by battle.

• The effect "You can Tribute 1 monster you control to return this card from your Graveyard to the top of your Deck" activates in the Graveyard and starts a Chain Link. (It does not target. It can only be activated during your Main Phase.)

• Tributing 1 monster in your Monster Zone is a cost to activate this effect.
