Card Rulings:Taunt
OCG Rulings
- The effect of "Taunt" does not force your opponent to conduct their Battle Phase. Also, it does not force your opponent’s monsters to declare an attack. (Your opponent can end their turn without conducting their Battle Phase. Also, even if your opponent conducts their Battle Phase, your opponent can end their Battle Phase without declaring an attack.) If an opponent's monster declares an attack during the turn the effect of "Taunt" was applied, the attack target must be the monster targeted by "Taunt".[1]
- While you control both "Chu-Ske the Mouse Fighter" and "Monk Fighter", if "Taunt" is activated during your opponent's Main Phase 1 targeting "Chu-Ske the Mouse Fighter", then a second copy of "Taunt" can be activated during the same Main Phase targeting "Monk Fighter". In this case, the effects of both copies of "Taunt" are applied during this turn. When an opponent's monster declares an attack, the player who activated both copies of "Taunt" chooses whether "Chu-Ske the Mouse Fighter" or "Monk Fighter" become the attack target, and the attack is performed.[2]
- While you control both "Elemental HERO Terra Firma" and "Elemental HERO Heat", if "Taunt" is activated during your opponent's Main Phase 1 targeting "Elemental HERO Heat", then "Terra Firma Gravity" can still be activated during your opponent's Battle Phase. In this case, the effects of "Terra Firma Gravity" and "Taunt" are both applied during this turn. When an opponent's Level 4 or lower monster declares an attack, the player who activated "Terra Firma Gravity" and "Taunt" chooses whether "Elemental HERO Terra Firma" or "Elemental HERO Heat" become the attack target, and the attack is performed.[3]

- If a monster selected by "Taunt" is moved to the turn player's side of the field, the turn player can conduct attacks normally without worrying about the effect of "Taunt", because without a card effect that allows it, a player cannot attack monsters on his/her own side of the field.
- If multiple monsters are selected by multiple "Taunts", the turn player selects 1 of the monsters selected by "Taunt" and can attack it.
- If 1 monster is selected by "Taunt" and another is equipped with "Ring of Magnetism", the turn player must attack the monster equipped with "Ring of Magnetism" if he/she attacks.
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Absolute End: If "Taunt" and "Absolute End" are both active, the attack becomes a direct attack to your Life Points. This is because the attack target is the monster selected by "Taunt", but then "Absolute End" turns it into a direct attack.
