OCG Rulings

  • Special Summoning the targeted monster and Special Summoning monsters with the same name from your Graveyard do not happen simultaneously.[1]
  • You must Special Summon the targeted monster, but you can choose not to Special Summon any additional monsters with the same name from your Graveyard.[1]
  • The part of the effect that banishes the Special Summoned monsters, and that prevents you from Special Summoning monsters other than Thunder-Type monsters while the Special Summoned monsters are on the field is applied not only to the Special Summoned target, but also the additional monsters with the same name that are Special Summoned.[1]
  • Banishing the Special Summoned monsters when they leave the field does not start a Chain. (This effect can be applied during the Damage Step.)[1]

Q&A Rulings

  • Q: I activated "Thunder Dragons' Hundred Thunders" and Special Summoned 2 copies of "Thunder Dragonroar" from my Graveyard. Afterward, if one of those "Thunder Dragonroar" is changed to face-down Defense Position by the effect of "Book of Moon", can I Special Summon monsters other than Thunder-Type monsters?
A: When you Special Summon multiple monsters with the effect of "Thunder Dragons' Hundred Thunders", the effect preventing you from Special Summoning monsters other than Thunder-Type monsters applies as long as any of those Special Summoned monsters remain face-up in the Monster Zone. In this scenario, if only 1 of the monsters Special Summoned by "Thunder Dragons' Hundred Thunders" is changed to face-down Defense Position, you cannot Special Summon monsters, except Thunder-Type monsters. (If the other "Thunder Dragonroar" is then changed to face-down Defense Position, you can Special Summon monsters normally.)[2]
