Card Rulings:Volcanic Slicer
OCG Rulings
- The effect of "Volcanic Slicer" is an Ignition Effect.[1]
- If "Volcanic Slicer" already attacked, you cannot activate this effect.[1]
- The effect of "Volcanic Slicer" can be activated during the first turn of the Duel. If "Volcanic Slicer" is Summoned during your Main Phase 2, its effect can be activated.[1]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[3] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - If "Volcanic Slicer" is flipped face-down after its effect has been activated, and flipped face-up in the same turn, it can attack that turn.
- "Volcanic Slicer's" Life Point damage inflicting effect can be activated when another card effect is preventing "Volcanic Slicer" from attacking.
- "Volcanic Slicer's" Life Point damage inflicting effect can be used by the player taking the very first turn of the Duel, even though they do not have a Battle Phase.[2]
Judge List Rulings
- Even if you skipped the Battle Phase with another card's effect (like "Soul Exchange") you can still activate "Volcanic Slicer's" effect.[2]
- If you declare an attack with "Volcanic Slicer" and an effect is activated that negates the attack, stops the attack or results in a replay, you would not be able to activate "Volcanic Slicer's" effect in the Main Phase 2.[2]
