Card Rulings:Witchcrafter Collaboration
OCG Rulings
- This card's effect that allows a "Witchcrafter" monster to attack twice this turn and prevents your opponent from activating Spell/Trap Cards when it attacks is the effect that is applied by activating this card. (It targets 1 face-up "Witchcrafter" monster in your Monster Zone.)[1]
- This card's effect that adds it from your GY to your hand starts a Chain and activates in the GY. (It does not target.)[1]
- This effect can be activated during your own End Phase if this card is present in your GY and a "Witchcrafter" monster is face-up in your Monster Zone. (However, you cannot activate this effect during the turn you activated a "Witchcrafter Collaboration".)[1]
- When resolving this card's effect that adds it to your hand, even if you no longer have a "Witchcrafter" monster face-up in your Monster Zone, the effect is applied normally.[1]
Q&A Rulings
- Q: I activate "Witchcrafter Collaboration", targeting a face-up "Witchcrafter Edel" in my Monster Zone. If my opponent chains "Forbidden Lance", and makes "Witchcrafter Edel" unaffected by Spell/Trap effects this turn, how does "Witchcrafter Collaboration" resolve?
- A: In this scenario, if the monster targeted with the effect of "Witchcrafter Collaboration" is unaffected by Spell effects when it resolves, no part of the effect is applied.[2][3]
- Q: My opponent activated "Witchcrafter Collaboration" this turn, targeting their "Witchcrafter Haine", and has declared an attack with that "Witchcrafter Haine". During this Battle Step, can I activate the effect of a "Raidraptor - Readiness in my GY?
- A: When a monster affected by "Witchcrafter Collaboration" attacks, the opponent cannot activate Spell/Trap Cards until the end of the Damage Step. While that effect is applied, the opponent can still activate Spell/Trap effects, so in this scenario, you can activate the effect of a "Raidraptor - Readiness" in your GY.[4][3]
- Q: I activate "Witchcrafter Collaboration", targeting a face-up "Witchcrafter Edel" in my Monster Zone. If my opponent chains "Book of Moon" and changes "Witchcrafter Edel" to face-down Defense Position, how does "Witchcrafter Collaboration" resolve?
- A: Even if the monster targeted by "Witchcrafter Collaboration" is in face-down Defense Position when its effect resolves, the effect is applied normally. In this scenario, if the targeted "Witchcrafter Edel" returns to face-up Attack Position this turn, it can attack twice during each Battle Phase, and when it does your opponent will not be able to activate Spell/Trap Cards until the end of the Damage Step.[5][6]
