Q&A Rulings

  • Q: When I attacked an opponent's monster with "Witchcrafter Madame Verre", I activated its effect during damage calculation by revealing 3 Spells, increasing its ATK and DEF by 3000. In this situation, if my opponent then activates "Skill Drain" and negates the effects of "Witchcrafter Madame Verre", what happens to its ATK/DEF?
A: In this scenario, even if the effects of "Witchcrafter Madame Verre" are negated after its first effect has resolved, the increase to its ATK/DEF remains. (In this case, since "Witchcrafter Madame Verre" previously gained 3000 ATK and DEF, it will have 4000 ATK and 5800 DEF until the end of this turn.)[2][3]
A: The effect of "Witchcrafter Madame Verre" negates the effects of all monsters that are face-up in your opponent's Monster Zone when the effect resolves. As in this scenario, if a monster is Special Summoned to your opponent's field afterward, its effects are not negated.[4][3]
A: The effect of "Witchcrafter Madame Verre" negates the effects of face-up monsters that activate and/or apply on the field. In this scenario, the effect of "Planet Pathfinder" can be activated by Tributing it, but since it is an effect that activates/applies on the field, it will be negated and you do not add a Field Spell from your Deck to your hand.[5][3]
