Card Rulings talk:Macro Cosmos

We had a guy try to edit in a fake ruling earlier today to try and convince me that I'm wrong about something. He tried to add a fake Heavy Storm ruling into the "Mentions in Other Rulings" Section. Major problems? Heavy Storm has no rulings and he didn't even put it in its alphabetically correct place. Not to mention the lack of several spaces and such.

It's Quakemaster1209 from BYOND if anyone's curious. He thinks playing Heavy Storm against Macro Cosmos results in everything still being removed from play.Wolfgang DelaSangre 19:18, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

How would Miracle Dig resolve if Macro Cosmos is active? Would the monsters be removed from play again or would nothing happen? --75.163.163.86 01:46, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

"Miracle Dig" does not "send" cards to the Graveyard, it "returns" them. "Macro Cosmos" will have no effect.
It's better to ask questions on the Forum, since more people visit there.

I'm gonna have to say that you are wrong on that one, Deus. If you were correct, then "destroying" a card wouldn't count as "sending to the Graveyard". To "send a card to the Graveyard" is a term that is used whenever a card becomes present in the Graveyard, and encompasses quite a few others, including destruction and Tributing. There is no reason "returning" should not be counted as such as well, since cards are still entering the Graveyard, just as they are in the other situations.

That answer is the official one from UDE and the unofficial one from Konami. It is similar to how "swap" is not "send", as stated in Card Rulings:Exchange of the Spirit.
Destroyed cards are sent to the Graveyard. Tributed cards are sent to the Graveyard. See the rulebook, page 49:
●Send to the Graveyard
A card can be sent to the Graveyard in various ways. Destroying a card, discarding, and Tributing a monster are all actions that send a card to the Graveyard, and will normally activate “When this card is sent to the Graveyard…” Trigger Effects.

gravekeepers servant[edit]

hi, most players i asked about last ruling of macro said, that ruling is wrong. i dont understand it too. why cant opp atk, when i have a macro + servant on field? then he also cant tribute, synch, discard, or be affectet by iron chain dragon´s effect and a lot more. that cant be right, can it? thx —This unsigned comment was made by 86.56.3.253 (talkcontribs) 12:51, September 20, 2009

For "Gravekeeper's Servant", sending the card from the top of the Deck to the Graveyard is a cost to attack. If you cannot pay the cost, then you cannot attack. "Macro Cosmos" prevents you from sending the card to the Graveyard (if you try to, then the card will end up in the Removed Zone, which isn't the Graveyard), so you cannot attack.
For Tributing and discarding, the cards are sent to the Graveyard, unless otherwise specified. If you Tribute from the field to the Removed Zone, then it will still be considered a Tribute, so you can do it. The same applies for discarding, unless it specifies that you must discard to the Graveyard.
The above two only apply to costs; if it is an effect, then the effect will resolve as much as possible, so that the card is instead removed from play instead of being sent to the Graveyard. For "Iron Chain Dragon", sending the top three cards to the Graveyard is an effect, so it will resolve as much as possible and instead remove from play the cards.

98.238.133.47 (talk) 16:46, August 3, 2012 (UTC) well i have something i'd like to say about the whole heavy storm thing and macro cosmos. heavy storm is a normal spell card and everybody knows that all non continuous/equipped/field spell cards go straight to the graveyard after use. if heavy storm is activated while macro cosmos is on the field only heavy storm is removed from play since it leaves play before macro cosmos. then macro cosmos leaves play so any other spell/trap cards destroyed by heavy storm are sent the graveyard. --themofowood--
