Differences[edit]

In the OCG, it is currently ruled that the "Tribute" and the "Special Summon" occur sequentially. In the TCG, they occur simultaneously. Thus, if "Fortune Lady Light" is Tributed for "Magical Dimension" and you don't destroy anything, then her effect will miss the timing in the OCG, but won't miss the timing in the TCG. —This unsigned comment was made by 141.70.67.243 (talkcontribs)

Could someone please point me to the rulings that say this? I can't find them and thus don't see any reason why this should be ruled this way. Especially, why it should be ruled differently. I thus request this part to be removed because it is wrong... 141.70.67.243 11:38, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

It's to do with Tributing and Summoning being a 'Simultaneous Effect' in TCG and not simultaneous in OCG. The contradiction is correct. Falzar FZ 12:13, February 25, 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, but this answer doesn't help at all. You're merely repeating what is said in the quoted part (in italic). But still, there is absolutely no reason why this should be the case. There is neither a ruling nor any official statement from anyone saying those parts are simultaneous. It appears to me that someone just decided this because he liked the effect to work this way and everyone else just accepted this. So please don't tell me those effects are simultaneous, but rather explain why (show/link me a ruling or an official statement).141.70.67.243 20:25, April 24, 2010 (UTC)
The OCG ruling is found on the JERP, Card Wiki, in video games, and in comparison to cards like Ritual Spell Cards.
In the TCG, it was ruled that way at... (World, I believe? Or American Nationals? Something like that)... by some Konami official. Like, an actual Konami official, not some "ohai i juj 4 u!!!!1" person.

Out of Date[edit]

If you control a face-up Spellcaster-Type monster: Target 1 monster; Tribute it, then Special Summon 1 Spellcaster-Type monster from your hand, then you can destroy 1 monster on the field.
According to that, the next errata will make the Special Summon happen separately, so that would change the Contradicting ruling to an Out of Date ruling. Should we change it now, or wait for a new ruling? -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 10:16, June 11, 2011 (UTC)
That new text should be good enough to justify a change. The new text is good enough to count as an erratum, and we've updated rulings based on errata before. --Deus Ex Machina 19:09, June 12, 2011 (UTC)

Magical Dimension's Tribute now a cost?[edit]

According to word of mouth I have heard on another forum, rumor, and I hold this as such for the time being, is that the tribute was made into a cost due to the possible rise in popularity of the Prophecy archetype. The only source I was given was someone told them that at a YCS, making no reference to the person being a judge or another player. I am curious to know if there is any truth in this and if the currently listed ruling should be changed to reflect the new information - Axel Shiokawa (talkcontribs) 22:34, November 6, 2012 (UTC)
