Card Tips:Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights
OCG and Traditional Format[edit]
- If "Infernoble Knight - Renaud" is Special Summoned with this card's effect, the former's effect can be used to add the Equip Spell that was sent to the GY, effectively allowing any Equip Spell to be added from the Deck to the hand.
- This card can send Equip Spell Cards such as "Divine Sword - Phoenix Blade", "Cursed Bamboo Sword" and "Phoenix Gearblade", whose effects can be activated in the GY, providing additional resources.
- It's incredibly easy to Summon this card in any Deck with the ability to Summon two Warrior monsters on the first turn, making "Isolde" a useful and versatile card for starting or extending combos. A few common variations of this strategy include:
- Normal Summon "Neo Space Connector" and use its effect to Special Summon "Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin" from your hand or Deck, then Link Summon "Isolde". This is especially useful since the effect of "Aqua Dolphin" can be used prior to the Link Summon to see the opponent's hand and potentially get rid of a hand trap.
- Normal Summon "Sublimation Knight", then activate its effect to equip "Squeaknight" from your hand or Deck to it. Then use the equipped "Squeaknight" effect to Special Summon itself.
- Normal Summon "Vision HERO Vyon" and use its effect to send "Destiny HERO - Malicious" to the GY, then banish "Malicious" to Special Summon a second copy from your Deck and Link Summon "Isolde". This variation also works with any other Warrior that could send "Malicious" to the GY, such as "Armageddon Knight" or "Dark Grepher".
- Normal Summon "The Phantom Knights of Torn Scales", then discard to activate its effect and send "The Phantom Knights of Ancient Cloak" to the GY, then banish it to add "The Phantom Knights of Silent Boots" to your hand to Special Summon it and Link Summon "Isolde".
- Normal Summon "Gouki Suprex" and use its effect to Special Summon any other Gouki monster from your hand, then Link Summon "Isolde". In addition to searching with "Isolde", you'll also get to add two more Gouki cards to your hand when the two material monsters go to the GY.
- This card's first effect can be used to search a Warrior monster with a Quick Effect that can be activated during the opponent's turn, alleviating the restriction on Summoning and using its effect on the same turn it is searched. Examples include "Infernoble Knight - Roland", "Destiny HERO - Dynatag", "Elemental HERO Honest Neos", "Cipher Mirror Knight", "Envoy of Chaos", and "Gouki Octostretch".
- Since this card only prevents the activation of monster effects, Warrior Pendulum Monsters and their Pendulum Effects can still be activated. This is especially useful with cards such as the "Igknight" monsters or "Dragodies, the Empowered Warrior".
- This card's effect can Special Summon "Hero Kid", which is only Level 2, and its effect can be used to Special Summon up to 2 other copies of "Hero Kids" from the Deck as well.
- This card can be used to Special Summon "Noble Knight Brothers", whose effect can recycle 3 "Noble Arms"/"Noble Knight" Cards, replenishing the Deck for this card's effect, while also serving as a quick draw engine.
- This card's first effect can be used to search "Noble Knight Eachtar", so that it can be Special Summoned by its own effect on the next turn, by banishing this card's Link Materials. With the proper set up, this can enable the Synchro Summon of "Ignoble Knight of High Laundsallyn" or the Xyz Summon of "Sacred Noble Knight of King Artorigus".
- This card's second effect can help set up for the Xyz Summon and effect of "Artorigus, King of the Noble Knights".
- This card can be used to search "Gilford the Legend", so that it can be Normal Summoned later in the Duel and equip itself with as many Equip Spells this card have sent to the Graveyard as possible.
- In a "Black Luster Soldier" Deck, this card's second effect can be used to Summon "Super Soldier Soul", by sending "Divine Sword - Phoenix Blade" to the Graveyard; that Equip Spell can then banish "Beginning Knight" and "Evening Twilight Knight", triggering their effects.
