  • You can combo this card with "Double or Nothing!" by using its effect on your own monster (assuming that monster is an Xyz Monster, otherwise Number 39: Utopia Roots won't gain any ATK).
  • Use cards that only work against non-Xyz Monsters like "Gravity Bind" and "Level Limit - Area B" to prevent this card from being destroyed by non-Xyz Monsters. However, a Burning Abyss deck can easily bypass this combo due to their monsters being level 3, so including "Weed Out" in your Side Deck is recommended.
    • Alternatively, you can use "Number Wall" and, to a lesser degree, "Number 66: Master Key Beetle", as both cards can protect "Utopia Roots" from being destroyed (using all three cards can create a three-card combo that protects each other from destruction, whether it be by battle or effects).
  • You can rapidly increase this card's ATK by summoning it in the same turn as another high-rank Xyz Monster you control. Attack with that other monster first and negate its attack. Then immediately attack with the now-buffed "Number 39: Utopia Roots".
    • In a Utopia deck, this card can be summoned along with Number 99: Utopic Dragon in a single turn. Using this method on Hope Dragun will give you a monster with 5500 Attack.
    • Since there are many easy ways to summon a Rank 8 monster, you can use this technique to turn "Number 39: Utopia Roots" into a 4500 ATK beat-stick. If you then manage to hold on to both monsters for another turn, that will turn into 8500 ATK (because the ATK gain is permanent).
    • Alternatively, you can use the effect of "Shark Fortress" to let it attack twice, and negate both attacks. This will increase "Number 39: Utopia Roots"'s ATK to 5500 in a single turn.
    • You can use the special Xyz Summon ability of either "Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger" or "Constellar Ptolemy M7" to increase the amount of ATK that "Number 39: Utopia Roots" will get.
  • Depending of the rank of the negated card, the ATK of this card becomes high than the majority of the Xyz monsters that it would battle, (assuming they still have their original printed ATK):
    • Rank 1: Gains 500, becomes 1000 total; "Root's" ATK becomes high than all but 2, rank 1 monster, tying Ghostrick Dullahan but loses to "Mira the Star-Bearer"
    • Rank 2: Gains 1000, becoming 1500 total; "Root's" ATK is high enough to beat any rank 2 monster except "Shining Elf."
    • Rank 3: Gains 1500, becomes 2000 total; they ATK are high enough to beat many rank 3 monsters.
    • Rank 4: Gains 2000, becomes 2500 total; the same as "Root's" original form, but still low enough that several rank 4 monsters (especially those requiring 3 monsters) can beat it.
    • Rank 5: Gains 2500, becomes 3000 total; high enough to beat most rank 5 monsters and the same as "Number C104: Umbral Horror Masquerade" and "ZW - Leo Arms" only losing to "Digvorzhak, King of Heavy Industry" and "Number C69: Heraldry Crest of Horror."
    • Rank 6: Gains 3000, becomes 3500 total; becoming higher than any rank 6 monster.
    • Rank 7: Gains 3500, becomes 4000 total; becoming higher than any rank 7 monster.
    • Rank 8: Gains 4000, becomes 4500 total; higher than any rank 8 monster except "Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon."
    • Rank 9: Gains 4500, becomes 5000 total; the same as "F.G.D," "Malefic Truth Dragon," "Dragon Master Knight," "Rocket Arrow Express" and "Superdimensional Robot Galaxy Destroyer," which tie for the highest printed ATK of all monster cards, and higher than any rank 9 monster.
    • Rank 10: Gains 5000, becoming 5500 total; and higher than any rank 10 monster since no monster card has a ATK high that 5000.
    • Rank 11: Gains 5500 ATK, becoming 6000 total; the only rank 11 monster has only 3800 ATK, making a difference of 2200.
    • Rank 12: Gains 6000, becoming 6500 total; the strongest rank 12 monster has 3600 ATK, making a difference of 2900.
