- "Nimble Sunfish" can send many Fish monsters to the graveyard to power up this card.
- "Skreech" can also be used.
- You can Normal Summon this card without tributes with "A Legendary Ocean", "Cost Down", "Mausoleum of the Emperor" or "Star Blast".
- You can Either add it to your hand or send it to the GY with "Ice Barrier", using its graveyard effect.
- Combo with "The Dragon Dwelling in the Deep" while it has Ocean Counters and "Destruct Potion"; destroy "The Dragon Dwelling in the Deep" with "Destruct Potion", gaining 1700 Life Points while increasing this card's ATK with its own effect and the effect of "The Dragon Dwelling in the Deep".
- This card is very useful in a "Superancient Deepsea King Coelacanth" Fish Synchro Deck and a "Codarus" control deck.
- If this card is weaker than an opponent's monster use a "Needlebug Nest" to mill 5 cards from the top of the deck to give this card at most 2500 more attack.

- This card can be searched by "Last Will".
- This card is very useful in a Frog deck. Stall your opponent with cards like "Dupe Frog" and "Froggy Forcefield" until you draw "Substitoad". Then use "Substitoad" to send as many "Frog" monsters to the graveyard, tribute it and summon this card.
