• This monster is based on Amaterasu, the Shinto goddess of the Sun.
  • This card's Flip-like effect is based on the legend of Amano-Iwato, where Amaterasu sealed herself inside a cave and deprived the world of sunlight as a result, until she was tricked into coming out.

• This card has the highest ATK of all Spirit monsters (tied with "Tsumuha-Kutsunagi the Lord of Swords" and "Shinobaron Peacock"), and is the first Level 9 Spirit monster.

• This is the first card that cannot be Normal nor Special Summoned, except with effects that ignore Summoning conditions.
