Card Trivia:Yubel
- This is one of the cover cards of Battles of Legend: Chapter 1.
- This monster appears in the artworks of "Eternal Favorite", "Neos Wiseman", "Nightmare Pain" and "Nightmare Throne".
- This monster's wings (and the tail of one of their draconic forms) appear in the artwork of "Mature Chronicle".
- This monster's name is based on "Jubel", the German word for "exultation".
- Alternatively, it might also be based on "Übel", the German word for "evil", which reflects Yubel's role as the main antagonist of the third season of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime.
- This monster has the following forms:
- A Fusion downgraded form: "Phantom of Yubel"
- A retrained counterpart: "Spirit of Yubel"
- Two Effect Monster upgraded forms: "Yubel - Terror Incarnate" and "Yubel - The Ultimate Nightmare"
- A Fusion upgraded form: "Yubel - The Loving Defender Forever"
- This monster's three eyes reference the three heads of Satan depicted in Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy.
- Both characters are considered traitors to their lords and have taken the form of a dragon as a primary form of combat at one point in their lives. This is further elaborated on in "Yubel - The Ultimate Nightmare", who is depicted with three heads akin to Satan.
- This monster's appearance is based somewhat on the rebis, a concept in alchemy of a perfected being who carries both male and female qualities. Perhaps not coincidentally, Jaden's "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monsters listing "Elemental HERO Burstinatrix" and a male "HERO" are also a Fusion of both a male and a female.
- This monster shares some similarities with "Tragoedia":
- Both monsters are Level 10 DARK Fiend monsters without an original ATK and DEF.
- Both monsters are based on antagonists in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime and manga, who have hospitalized a friend of Jaden Yuki who influenced his passion for Dueling.
- Both monsters' bodies are destroyed prior to the beginning of the anime and manga, forcing their spirits to possess humans to restore their true forms, and hid their true identities in shadow.
- This monster's damaging effect reflects its character counterpart's sadomasochistic personality in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime; whatever "pain" it experiences from battle damage, it reciprocates the opponent in Life Point damage.
- This goes along with how in the anime, despite Yubel using herself and her evolutions to attack Jaden's monsters, it is depicted that the monsters are forced to instead attack her while she simply takes the attack.
- This card is one of few (if any) cards whose artwork was censored from the anime to the OCG. Despite this, it was not censored from the OCG to the TCG, but it was censored between the original Japanese and the English dubbed versions of the anime. This censorship was later dropped in the OCG beginning with Phantom Nightmare, where all cards with Yubel in them depict Yubel's unedited appearance from the original Japanese anime.
