Monster Capsule GB[edit]

I am in the process of translating Yu-Gi-Oh! Monster Capsule GB and I was looking for input from others if I should add articles, to this Monster World Figures list, of the MCs in the game. --ParallaxFallout (talkcontribs) 12:39, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

You may wish to ask on that article's talk page or in the forums, then; there aren't usually very many people who watch categories, so questions can go unanswered for a very long time. I don't know anything about Monster World myself, so I can't really help you with your question. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 17:13, November 9, 2010 (UTC)
I don't know an much about that video game, so it's hard for me to tell. But if we are missing articles and information on creatures from an official Yu-Gi-Oh! game, I'd say go ahead and add them.
I had previously mistook the game played in Monster Capsule GB as an altered version of Capsule Monster Chess rather than Monster World. From what I've seen the game uses a number of the Capsule Monster Chess pieces as MCs and they don't have a set HP, AT, DF and SP since they change as the piece levels-up. Are there many pieces other than the ones also in Capsule Monster Chess and do they have any properties that don't change as they level up? -- Deltaneos (talk) 19:54, November 9, 2010 (UTC)
Well, the game involves Monster World when you challenge a 'Dark Master' on one of the floors...to me, I don't see the difference in Capsule Monster, Monster World, and what's in Monster Capsule GB. They're all the same to me. I guess I need someone to properly inform me of the differences. Is it just static stats in one while the pieces lvl up in the other? My exposure to it is through the original manga and Monster Capsule GB. I have Capsule Monster Coliseum, but never actually opened it...which I probably will do in a little bit.
That's why I'm asking the question. The things marked as Monster World here are the MCs in Monster Capsule GB except they can level up and their stats increase with it. I was thinking I could just put the base stats when you first obtain them from a Capsule Machine. Also, I've only gotten to the 4th floor and after the first floor I stop buying MCs (will change as I continue my translation work). There are roughly 25 obtainable MCs on the first floor alone and I know there are others as well as evolved versions of MCs (EX Great Moth). --ParallaxFallout (talkcontribs) 05:52, November 10, 2010 (UTC)
Monster World is an RPG. It involves a team of adventurers. They have different stats and HP and can be equipped with different weapons and items. They gain experience and levels from beating enemy monsters. You use dice determine the strength of their attacks. They face a Dark Master as the final boss.
Capsule Monster Chess is a modified game of chess. Both players start off with 5 monsters on their side of the board. Monsters have levels and special abilities. If you move a monster onto the same square as an opponent's monster, the monster with the lower level is destroyed. If they have the same level, they're both destroyed. Their special abilities allow them to do other stuff too. Some boards have evolution squares that will cause monsters to evolve into more powerful monsters. e.g. Beeton to Hyper Beetle.
Those rules are from the manga. Video games are bound to make some modifications.
Capsule Monster Coliseum is quite different than Capsule Monster Chess. I haven't played it either, but it seems to be more like the Capsule Monsters Game Mattel released. Unlike Capsule Monster Chess, each player has a King piece, which their opponent must beat to win.
I've probably said way too much. But it does seem like the game in Monster Capsule GB is indeed Monster World. Since like you said, it has the adventurer pieces (e.g. Yugi (MW)) and a Dark Master and the box art contains dice and a board identical to the ones used in the Monster World part of the manga. -- Deltaneos (talk) 02:17, November 14, 2010 (UTC)
That is by far the greatest explanation of Capsule Monster Chess and the others. The Monster Capsule GB entry needs to be edited to say it is a variation of Monster World, because not a single thing you described for Capsule Monster Chess takes place in Monster Capsule GB. There's evolutions, but they can only be done via obtaining an Evolution Capsule. Also, thanks to your description, I will be adding the MC's from the game to the Monster World figures article. Very much appreciated. Thank you. --ParallaxFallout (talkcontribs) 08:53, November 14, 2010 (UTC)
