Caterpillio Elephantis, known as Caterpillio Zomyoji (ぞうみょう キャタピリオ Zōmyōji Kyatapirio) in the Japanese version, is a character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS anime. He is the mechanic of Goha #6 Elementary's Heavy Cavalry Duel Club.

A character resembling Caterpillio, Manupilio Zomyoji, appears as a UTS employee in Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!!.

Design[edit]

Appearance[edit]

Full-body view of Caterpillio.
Caterpillio with his mask on.

Caterpillio is a tall boy with fair skin, blue eyes and brown hair. He wears grey overalls with the sleeves rolled partly up his forearms, brown boots, and ash-white gloves and a cap of the same color. He generally wears a steel mask over his face. Caterpillio carries an oversized spanner and screwdriver made from Gohanium on his back in a brown harness.

As one of The☆Heavy Cavalry Rangers, Caterpillio wears a grey costume; a light grey jumpsuit with red stripes on the torso, darker grey triangular shoulder-pads with a "fur" pattern in ash white on the chest and two turquoise dots on each side, and both elbow-length gloves and thigh-high boots in dark grey with "fur patterns" at the cuffs. He removes his hat and dons a new mask with a visible slit for his eyes, red stripes crossing his cheeks, and another "fur" pattern running down the center of the mask.

Personality[edit]

Caterpillio usually tries to act stoic, rarely outwardly emoting, a persona aided by his mask. He is somewhat reckless, deciding on his own to try to dismantle Yuga Ohdo's Road Laboratory with no orders from Asana Mutsuba and trying to do so even after Tiger defeated him in a Rush Duel. As with many members of the Heavy Cavalry Duel Club he is very arrogant and confident in his own skills, be they in Dueling or his mechanical talents. When he is startled, Caterpillio reverts to making frustrated trumpeting sounds akin to those made by elephants.

Etymology[edit]

In both versions, Caterpillio's surname is based on elephants: his Japanese surname contains the character for "elephant" within it. Fittingly, his most powerful monster is based on an elephant.

Biography[edit]

History[edit]

During third-grade, Caterpillio knew Tiadosia Kallister, though she told him to call her "Tiger".[3] Caterpillio was present when Asana Mutsuba created "Wyrm Excavator the Heavy Cavalry Draco" from Duel ID cards contained within abandoned Duel Disks in her family's mine.[4]

Goha #6 Elementary[edit]

After Yuga Ohdo and his friends escaped from the Abandoned Dorm, Caterpillio took it upon himself to dismantle Yuga's Road Laboratory, and he took two other Heavy Cavalry Duel Club students with him, dismantling any machinery he came across on his way to the building. Upon his arrival however, he was opposed by Yosh Imimi, Mason, Hicks, Scoop Pitman, Masa and Cub, but he easily disarmed them all with his Gohanium tools, scaring off the Post-Apocalyptic Club and threatening to ram the Newspaper Club as they stood in the way of his caterpillar track. To his shock, he was stopped by Tiadosia Kallister's bassoon, and Tiadosia herself arrived, once again insisting that Caterpillio call her Tiger and repelling his tools with her Gohanium bassoon. She challenged him to a Rush Duel in defense of the Road Laboratory, and Caterpillio easily blocked Tiger's attacks without suffering damage, before using "Shield & Sword" to switch the high DEF of his monsters with their ATK, attempting to defeat Tiger that turn, though she was able to Special Summon a monster to intercept one of his attacks and remain in the game. Caterpillio switched his "Beast Drive Mega Elephant" back to Defense Position and used another "Rut Trap" to force Tiger to attack it, but Tiger was able to bring out "Digisoon the Music Fiend" and increase its ATK high enough to defeat Caterpillio through piercing damage. Despite his loss, Caterpillio tried to dismantle the Road Laboratory regardless, but was prevented from doing so by Galian, who admonished Caterpillio for his actions but reassured him that he knew he was just trying to protect Asana Mutsuba. Caterpillio agreed, leaving with Galian after patching the hole in the fence and repairing his caterpillar track.[3]

After apologizing to Asana for his reckless actions, Caterpillio accompanied her, Galian, Schubel Quill, Pidgetrap, and six other Heavy Cavalry Duel Club students to the Mutsuba mine, where they found Yuga and his friends. Asana confirmed Yuga's suspicions over how she had created her Maximum Monsters and challenged him to another Rush Duel with the condition that they would be banned from all elementary schools in Goha City. She quickly pushed Yuga into a corner with "Wyrm Excavator the Heavy Cavalry Draco", but Yuga had already added three Duel ID cards to his Deck and rewrote them into "Supreme Machine Magnum Overlord", which clashed with "Wyrm Excavator" with equal ATK. To Caterpillio's shock, the impact damaged R6, and the two sets of Maximum cards began to disintegrate.[4] Both Maximums disintegrated at the same time, allowing the Duel to continue, but as Asana pushed Yuga into a corner R6 began to deteriorate. Asana revealed the Heavy Cavalry Duel Club's goals to Yuga and his friends, prompting Luke to dismiss the club's traditions as silly hang-ups, much to Caterpillio's anger. R6 continued to break down as Asana continued her turn, so Caterpillio used his tools to keep it together. Yuga was able to survive Asana's attacks and counterattack, causing R6 to being breaking apart; Caterpillio rallied his fellow Heavy Cavalry Duel Club members to bind it together until Yuga declared his final attack. When R6 exploded after the final blow, Caterpillio protected Asana from the impact using his tools. After the Duel Yuga revealed that R0, the Mutsuba-style Mobile Duel Device, had been buried in the mine as well and had been modified in the past, much to Caterpillio's shock. These revelations prompted the Heavy Cavalry Duel Club to accept the notion of modification, and Caterpillio watched in admiration as Yuga repaired R6 for Asana.[5]

Team Battle Royal[edit]

Caterpillio and Asana went to the Mutsuba mine to investigate a suspicious man excavating there, despite Asana's intention to enter the Goha Rush Duel Team Battle Royal with Galian and Schubel.[6] Events progressed to the point that Caterpillio was forced to call Galian and Schubel away from the tournament for backup.[7]

Caterpillio and Asana waited for Galian and Schubel outside the Abandoned Dorm, where the mineshaft to Maximum Mountain had been forced open, though despite calling them, Caterpillio believed he alone was enough to protect Asana. They ventured into the mine to find Goha 66 excavating there and confronted him over his purpose. Goha 66 claimed that elementary schoolers would never understand what salarymen thought and insulted them and their Heavy Cavalry. Tiger then arrived to assist them against Goha 66, giving Caterpillio a bad feeling due to his history with her, and he was forced to use his Gohanium spanner to brace himself from her yells after Asana called her by her first name.[8] Caterpillio, Tiger, Galian, and Pidgetrap defeated all the members of Goha 66, but then Tiger challenged Asana to a Duel. Before they could clash, Luke, Romin, Gavin, Saburamen, Sushiko Maki and Briscoe arrived with a captured Kaizo, who had joined Goha 66 and Luke used Kaizo's confession switch to force him to reveal Goha 66's plan; to take over Goha Enterprises and the Dueling world by gaining control of the main Dueling server buried beneath Maximum Mountain.[9] Caterpillio learned that Luke was Tiger's younger brother, but when Schubel asked Caterpillio and Galian about the rivalry between Asana and Tiger, Tiger yelled them into a wall for talking behind her back, knocking off Caterpillio's mask. Asana and Tiger Rush Dueled, and during Asana's turn she activated "Silvermountain of Blisstopia", prompting her and Tiger to recall the day their friendship had ended. Tiger explained that Luke had gone missing on a snowy day and she and Asana had split up to look for him, accusing Asana of abandoning her after they parted. Schubel and Pidgetrap he interrupted the Duel after Pidgetrap returned, explaining to everyone that Asana had been rescuing them, prompting Asana to apologize and Tiger to forgive her. Caterpillio watched as Asana defeated Tiger, but when Tiger shouted Luke away after the Duel, she shattered a wall that revealed the supposed main server. However, the server proved to be too small and Goha 66 crumpled in disappointment with a note reading "My best, most awesome plan to take over Goha".[10]

Caterpillio, Asana, Galian, Schubel, Pidgetrap, and Tiger all attended the finals of the Goha Rush Duel Team Battle Royal the next day at Goha Stadium, watching Romin's victory against Roa Kassidy and Gavin's Duel against Nail Saionji, where they were shocked by his new "DJ G" persona. Faced with "Yggdrago the Sky Emperor", Gavin eventually returned to his normal persona after a power outage in the stadium and forced a DRAW, leaving Yuga and Luke to have a final Duel.[11][12]

Caterpillio watched Yuga and Luke's Rush Duel. After Yuga changed his hand with "Amazing Dealer" and only Summoned "Sevens Road Magician", Caterpillio agreed with Asana that he'd started with a bad hand. He was impressed by Yuga's Maximum Summon of "Hyper Engine Vast Vulcan". To Caterpillio's shock the power in the stadium began to fail again, revealed to be due to the Goha Duel Server being hacked, and Caterpillio witnessed the revelation of the Goha Duel Server on the moon and the Rush Duel Program contained within, under attack by Goha Enterprises Drones. Asana realized that the Drones were uninstalling it and had been all tournament, likely under the orders of Otes.[13] After a power spike was detected beneath Goha Stadium, Caterpillio, Galian, Schubel, and Pidgetrap headed into the tunnels to destroy the device responsible, Caterpillio breaking down the doors with his tools while Galian destroyed the Relic that Otes had apparently been using to hack the server with GG03 and reported back to Tiger and Asana, though the uninstallation continued. Despite knowing their Duel would complete the uninstallation, Yuga and Luke continued to Duel. Caterpillio returned to the surface to witness Luke's victory, and as Caterpillio applauded Luke's victory, Rush Dueling was uninstalled, but Yuga and Nail were able to reinstall the program and install it in the Super Rush Robot to protect it from another attack. Caterpillio then watched Luke's coronation as King of Duels.[14]

Goha 6 Siblings[edit]

The true Goha Presidents, the Goha Six, returned to Earth, evicted the current president, Mimi Imimi, and challenged Yuga and his friends to Rush Duels with the Super Rush Robot held hostage by Forcersizers that would shake it apart unless Yuga defeated the six siblings.[15] Caterpillio, Galian and Pidgetrap all offered their Duel ID cards to Asana to allow her to recreate "Wyrm Excavator the Heavy Cavalry Draco", but she declined their offer and asked to use their ace monsters in her Deck instead; Caterpillio gave Asana his "Beast Drive Mega Elephant".[16]

Asana learned Tiger was training at Maximum Mountain and she called the Rush Duel Club to meet with her, Caterpillio, Galian, Schubel and Pidgetrap before taking them to the tiger-shaped outcrop that Tiger had been relentlessly carved. After Asana caught Tiger when she fell from the outcrop in exhaustion, Caterpillio learned Tiger had been training due to her defeat in a Rush Duel by her brother, who had joined Yuo Goha. Yuo then arrived in Star Six with Nail for the day's Duel, which Asana accepted in Tiger's place. Nail Maximum Summone "Yggdrago the Sky Emperor" on his first turn and Asana opposed it by backing up "Constructor Wyrm Buildragon" with her friends' ace monsters, including Caterpillio's "Mega Elephant", and Caterpillio celebrated when she was able to increase the ATK of "Buildragon" to match "Yggdrago", though Nail was able to avoid her attack. Nail Maximum Summoned "Yggdrago" again on his next turn and Asana defended with "Mega Elephant", "Night Vision the Phantom Pigeon" and "Shield Boring Kong", but Nail was able to break though them all by reusing the Maximum effects of "Yggdrago", destroying Caterpillio's "Mega Elephant" last. Fortunately Asana was able to survive by reducing the ATK of "Yggdrago" and on her next turn she Summoned a new ace, "Constructor Sky Wyrm Gantry Dragon", reviving "Buildragon" and "Constructor Demolisher Wyrm Drake Crush". Once again she used her friends' aces to increase the ATK of her "Drake Crush" and reduce the ATK of "Yggdrago", eventually defeating Nail.[16]

Nail resigned from Goha Enterprises after the Duel and left with Seatbastian, and Yuga challenged The Lukeman to a final Rush Duel.[16] To Caterpillio's surprise, after The Lukeman donned a costume that he referred to as his "Ultimate Form", Yuga donned his own costume, "Yuga the Destructor". The rest of the Goha Six and Mimi then arrived and explained what was going on: The Lukeman was an electronic lifeform created when Tiger had tried to fax The Lukeman manga Luke had written as a child and had struck it in frustration, causing a burst of energy that became sentient and created the "Fusion" cards from Program storage cards in the remains of Goha satellites destroyed by Nail eight years previously. The Lukeman desired to become one with Luke, which was why it had sought him out, and Yuga wanted to help The Lukeman, which was the reason behind his costume as "Yuga the Destructor". Caterpillio and the others were so distracted by the revelations they didn't notice The Lukeman had Fusion Summoned "Hyperstrike Dragon Dragiastar F" and almost defeated Yuga the Destructor, but Yuga was able to barely survive. Yuga then assumed a new guise, "The Yugaman", claiming to be an ally of The Lukeman, and Caterpillio and the others were provided with costumes as well.[17] Caterpillio, Galian, and Schubel took on the personas of "The☆Heavy Cavalry Rangers" alongside "The Princess Asana", and joined the others in convincing The Lukeman they weren't his enemies, but having "The Rockin' Romin" be captured by the "Goha Aliens" played by the Goha Six to force the Rush Duel to continue. Caterpillio believed The Yugaman would be able to win after he destroyed "Dragiastar F" with the effect of "Ultimate Flag Mech Ace Breaker", but The Lukeman negated The Yugaman's follow-up direct attack. He returned "Fusion" to his Deck on his next turn with "Peace Dragon" while also increasing both players' LP, prompting an enraged Yuo to ask if The Lukeman was Dueling seriously. The Lukeman re-drew "Fusion" and Fusion Summoned "Full Moon Dragon Umbralancer F", reviving "Dragiastar F" and almost defeating The Yugaman. On his next turn The Yugaman revived "Sevens Road Magician", but The Lukeman returned all the monsters in his Graveyard to his Deck to prevent him using the effect of "Sevens Road Magician". The Yugaman tried to counter by drawing a new card with "1/Infinity", which forced both players to draw and would damage Yuga if he didn't draw the same card as The Lukeman. However The Lukeman drew "Fusion", which Caterpillio grimly noted Yuga didn't have in his Deck. A meteor then entered Earth's atmosphere and plunged towards Yuga, but Yuga was able to block the meteor with his Duel Disk and add the "Fusion" within to his Deck. Yuga Fusion Summoned "Sevens Paladin", which could gain ATK from monsters in both Graveyards, and successfully sent the EARTH monster he needed to the Graveyard to activate the effect of "Sevens Paladin", allowing him to destroy both of The Lukeman's Fusion Monsters and defeat him.[18]

As The Lukeman thanked Yuga, Yuo tried to destroy the Super Rush Robot in Star Six, but was stopped when Kaizo, who had been caught in the Goha Meteor Shower, crashed into Star Six and detonated Romin's Prima Guitarna Curry, crashing Star Six. Yuo released the Super Rus Robot, and The Lukeman released Luke and left for outer space, promising to return if they needed him. Mimi then claimed Swirls to be the sixth of the Goha Six, though she was proven wrong when the sixth Goha Six's badge didn't react to him. Yuga then offered to join Goha Enterprises as the Goha Six had initially asked, in exchange for Yuo retaining his position and reinstating the rest of the Goha Six.[18]

Deck[edit]

Caterpillio uses an EARTH Beast Deck with monsters that appear mechanical. His tactics focus on defense, using his "Beast Battlefield Barrier" Field Spell Card to increase the DEF of his Normal Monsters and reduce the ATK of his opponent's monsters, while forcing them to attack his high-DEF monsters with his "Rut Trap". For offense, he uses "Shield & Sword" to give his low-ATK monsters their high DEF for a battle, overwhelming the opponent.
