Chthonian is a series of cards used by Chazz Princeton in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime, all of whom have the word "Hell" 「ヘル」in their Japanese names. Their naming scheme is not as uniform in the English translation, with the word "Chthonian" being the most recurring substitute for Hell, but with other words such as "Infernal" also being used. The cards are thematically similar in art style and often utilize a control/beatdown strategy.

"Mefist the Infernal General" and "Infernal Incinerator" share the same 「ヘル」 string in their Japanese name, and were utilized by Chazz as part of his "Chthonian" Deck, so can be also considered part of the theme despite not being given "Chthonian" as part of their English names; on the other hand, "Chthonian Emperor Dragon" features the same naming scheme as the English translated versions of the cards, but is not considered part of the series due to not being utilized by Chazz.
