The Konami index number refers to a numeric code assigned to Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. The name comes from their most notable usage being the IDs of Konami's official card database, though they are also used internally by most video games.

Contrary to the password, the Konami index number is not printed anywhere on physical cards, and is incremental, so a list will lay out cards with one in (roughly) chronological order, though with a large number of gaps. The majority of cards are indexed by earliest real-life release, however cards created by video games based on the original series and (until 2011) by the manga were usually assigned based on their debut date instead (including unreleased ones, which most likely accounts for many gaps up to the mid-9000s).

These numbers appear to have originated as the internal card ordering of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters video game (which begins from "Blue-Eyes White Dragon"), though offset to start from 4007 for unknown reasons. In later games, the IDs from 3400 to 3999 are used for unprinted anime cards (except those first featured in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force), alternate artworks, and pre-Raging Tempest Monster Tokens ("Ancient Gear Token" filled the last slot in the reserved Token block, and any subsequent Monster Token is instead placed shortly after the debut set of the card that Summons it).

The IDs used for Rush Duel cards are from the same numbering system as those used for OCG/TCG cards: RD IDs do not overlap with any existing OCG/TCG IDs, and cards that have been featured in both card games have separate IDs for each. In addition, alternate artworks and Over Rush Rare variants also get separate IDs in RD video games, placed in the vicinity of the set they were first printed in.

There are currently 14,982 cards with a known ID. The card with the highest-value ID currently known is "Galaxy War Drake" (20,276).
