Is Yugioh the only game using "tribute" as a verb?-- (talkcontribs) 14:15, April 16, 2012 (UTC)

I believe so, and that's part of the reason why they wanted to change 'Tribute' to 'Release' (and why it's 'sacrifice' in the anime). In addition, Tributing and Tributed aren't even real words, so some players still prefer the term 'Release'. Battlemaniac (talkcontribs) 16:09, April 16, 2012 (UTC)

I don't see what the problem is.--Helix-king (talkcontribs) 17:17, April 16, 2012 (UTC)

I guess when the game got to the TCG they decided "sacrifice" was a tad too cult-ish or something. So "tribute" was used in its place, even though it's not an actual verb. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 01:49, April 17, 2012 (UTC)
But the OCG doesn't use "sacrifice" i think. It uses "release".--Laggia Will Lag You(Talk) 01:58, April 17, 2012 (UTC)
OCG has only been using "release" (リリース) at the dawn of the 5D's era. Prior to that, it used the term 生け贄, which somewhat translates to our "Tribute". --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 02:16, April 17, 2012 (UTC)

The way I see it, the game calls it that so that's the name of it.
Synchro Summon isn't a real term either but we use that don't we?
