my oppenent has a ledendary ocean and codarus. my battle phase, i attack cordarus. can he use the effect of codarus and destroy
my attacking monster?

No he cannot cause all monster effects you control can be applied during your turn unless the card mentions it can be activated during either players turn

Codarus's effect is an Ignition effect. Effects like this can only be activated during your Main Phase (unless otherwise stated in the card text).
