Forum:Alien Comeback?

Heard a somewhat unreliable rumor that something might be happening soon that would make the Alien cards more valuable; whether it is the arrival of more Alien cards or just an advantage against upcoming meta decks, I have no idea. Naturally, since I love the archetype and think that it is long overdue for receiving support, I would like to know what anyone else knows or has heard about this. • The rumor that you may have heard is actually W Nebula Meteor. This card not only gives Aliens the drawpower that they needed but also help with distributing A-Counters to opposing monsters when used with Alien Grey. Apart from that it can also special summon a trump card of the Aliens, Cosmic Horror Gangi'el. Apart from Aliens, this card is what makes the reptile type Worm cards a more viable archetype to play. Umm... I'm not entirely sure who told you that Gangi'el is a trump card for Aliens - it's actually quite lackluster. And there aren't THAT many LIGHT Aliens, certainly not enough that I'd run W Nebula Meteor in Aliens. Runer5h (talk • contribs) 04:32, April 30, 2011 (UTC)Runer5h

Well Cosmic Horror is one of the strongest attack monsters that Aliens have. Also it distributes A-Counters which are a crucial part of the overall Alien strategy. W Nebula Meteor is useful when used with light attribute Aliens such as Alien Grey, Alien Dog, Alien Ammonite and Alien Kid when defending on the opponent's turn once you have already made use of their effects. Alien Grey is especially good with W Nebula Meteor. But I understand why you wouldn't run it since most of the light Aliens are better in faceup attack position. I suppose if you have 2-3 of them on the field, or even the Cosmic Fortress Gol'gar, you can just play it during the end phase to draw 2-5 cards, then just skip the last effect,-Resk™ (Talk) 10:42, April 30, 2011 (UTC)

Wow! I never noticed that it could be used with Aliens! I have to get some of those! Anyhow-it should help but I doubt that it will make top tier. It seems like it's much more effective with Worms who are less S/T reliant than Aliens.BobaFett2 (talk)

I'm sure there's a way to make a Reptile deck that combines the Alien and Worm archetypes; they might not work together seamlessly, but I think that with cards like Snake Whistle, Crop Circles, Offering to the Snake Deity, and this W Nebula Meteor, they can gain enough synergy. One strategy that might work is to use the more generic Worm monsters for defense, and have the Aliens offensively spread A-Counters for the control aspect. There are several Worms, like Worm Warlord, that have useful generic effects and could benefit from tribute-fodder provided by the Alien control strategy.--SantaOrc26 (Talk) 21:53, April 30, 2011 (UTC)

I don't think that it's necessary. You can use Gangi-El like you would use Lava Golem. While it isn't as strong and sightly harder to Summon, you get to keep Gangi-El. That eliminates a need to steal their monsters and to tribute them for a Worm monster. The only Worm that I'd use is Worm Apocalypse to get rid of an S/T.BobaFett2 (talk)
