Forum:Banned Cards

Cards that I'm not sure why are banned/limited/semi limited I need reasons why some cards are banned or limited, etc. Here are the cards. Also, I have not created a forum before or played Yugioh that much. I've battled with friends before and they have tournament decks though so I have a little knowledge.

  1. Why is cyber jar banned? I can understand why it was first banned because it was really powerful and nothing can stop it but now it is different, with solemn judgment, zenmaines, stardust, and things like that. Also, cards such as scrap dragon or ryko lightsworn can destroy it without it even flipping. And those cards are very common. They should bring it back to one maybe. Defenitely not to 2 or 3 but just one.
  2. Is brionac or goyo ever coming back? They seem like good cards but they're too powerful. But brionac was limited for a while. I'm not sure if they should come back because brionac had otks and other cheap strategies.
  3. Why was future fusion banned? It was limited for a long time and was good. But it can be countered by warning or just mst or something like that, or ryko. Was it banned because people used it to send a lot of cards to graveyard for combos?
  4. Why was brain control banned, but mind control isn't? Brain control requires a cost of 800 lp and the opponent monster has to be face up. Mind control is free and can target face down. Sure, brain control can lead to a tribute but mind control can take control of a face down. And both can lead to xyz or synchro. It just seems weird. They should both be banned or both limited.
  5. Is graceful charity coming back? I can understand why it was first banned, but now they should bring it back to one.
  6. Why is premature burial banned and monster reborn not? Burial causes 800 lp loss, an occupied space in the spell trap zone, only summoning a monster in your graveyard, and easy destruction of monster with mst (which is at 3 now) or some other card.
  7. Why is royal oppression banned? It can counter many popular decks but at a cost of 800 life each. Konami should bring it back to balance the game against laval, six sam, and dragunity to name a few.

LIMITED

  1. Why is stratos limited? It shouldn't be brought back to 3, but it should be brought back to 2. The reason is effect veiler and solemn warning. Can't those cards stop stratos very effectively?
  2. Is tsukuyomi going to stay at one, be banned again, or go back to 2 in 2013 march and go to 3 in sep.2013? Also is it too slow to use now?
  3. Why is scapegoat limited? All the combos I know of don't work anymore (for example metamorphesis+token = restrict, but those cards are banned). Is there a good combo with scapegoat that requires it to be limited and not semi or unlimit?
  4. Why is wall of revealing light limited? Isn't it similar to swords of revealing light (which is at 3) or level limit are b or gravity bind?

SEMI LIMITED

  1. E-call, why is it semi limited?
  2. a Hero lives, why is it semi limited and is it worth $7 or more to buy for a hero deck?
  3. why is ojama trio still semi limited? Will they ever bring it back to 3?

Cards that should be banned/limited/semi limited

  • Stardust: Everyone uses it and it is good but it can be countered, so should it go to 2?
  • Quasar: This card basically enables you to win because its overpowered and easy to summon with a laval deck.
  • Rekindling: Why isn't it banned? the opponent can send laval monsters to the graveyard with other cards, activate rekindling, sync for t.g., sync for formula, sync for a level 5 laval, and sync for quasar on the first turn. It is overpowered and I have lost a lot because of it.

But help or reasons for these card bans/ limits or insight would be appreciated. 99.100.171.71 (talk) 04:33, November 7, 2012 (UTC)

For almost all of that, see Forum:Reasons why cards are Forbidden/Limited. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 04:40, November 7, 2012 (UTC)

This post gave me cancer. The spacing is non-existant and your logic is horrible.

Counters do not make a card less broken.

Cyber Jar: Nuke the field then swarm. If it weren't for the swarming aspect it'd be okay at one. Brionac/Goyo: Both are stupid broke. If Goyo was level nine, it'd be acceptable, but it's not. And Brionac is an OTK enabler and nothing more. Royal Oppresion: Swarm the field then flip Oppression was a horrible format. Also Six Samurao, Lavals, and Dragunity aren't meta. Why complain about them. Graceful Charity: Dark Worlds get mad plusses from it, sets up the graveyard, and did I mention it'd make Dark Worlds mad stupid? Brain Control: Steal opponents monster, attack, tribite/synch/whatever. Mind Control is just flip effect shenanigans and Syncjro/Xyz fodder. Nothing more. Premature Burial: Searchable and the monster remains on the field when bounced. Revive with Premature Burial, bounce with Zephyros and repeat. Elemental HERO Stratos: Searches any HERO upon Normal or Special Summon as well as backrow hate on an 1800 body. E -Emergency Call/A Hero Lives: HEROES were dominating in the OCG, so they had to be slown down.

Stardust Dragon: Card is fine. Outside of Synchrocentric or Synchro capable decks it's only used for Starlight Road or Malefic Stardust. And if summoned through Starlight Road (vulnerable to Solemn Warning) it can only negate one effect. Quasar: Dreadfully hard to summon outside a designated deck, the only good one no longer being viable. And Lavals are inconsistent jank.

  • Cyber Jar - Too good. It combines a Torrential Tribute-like nuke that is hard to counter and draws through your hand. (cards that do that easily are shunned upon because they enable building decks around a single card or combo, resulting in boring matches). Not likely to ever see the light of day again.
  • Brionac & Goyo - They may come back when the meta-game changes to where they aren't terribly overpowered. But for now, Brionac is too good at OTK's and too easy to summon for its ability to devastate both Synchro and Xyz decks. Goyo Guardian is just too powerful for a generic level 6 Synchro and everyone's tired of it.
  • Future Fusion - Yes, it is in fact because people used it to send tons of cards to the Graveyard easily. In fact, "Worm" deck users used it to SEND THEIR WHOLE FRICKIN' DECK TO THE GRAVEYARD! (see Worm Zero and Worm Victory) Dragon decks are another notable abuser.
  • Brain Control - It's another in a series of cards that are so good that everyone feels obliged to use it, regardless of deck or strategy. This is because it has no restrictions on what you can do with the nabbed monster, unlike Mind Control (though I foresee it may be banned as well). Cards like these make the game repetitive and unappealing for all but the most competitive players.
  • Graceful Charity - Apart from the ridiculous draw-through capacity that I've mentioned with Cyber Jar, this card is steroids for Dark World, Fabled and The Fabled decks. So if anything, it is even less likely to be unbanned now than it was in the past.
  • Premature Burial - There are many cards that let you return a Spell or Trap back to your hand, and Premature Burial is unique among cards of its class in that it does not destroy the monster if it's removed without being destroyed. This means you can use it to Summon 2 monsters or more in the same turn. This problem is not present with Call of the Haunted since you normally cannot activate it during the turn it is set.
  • Royal Oppression - Because it shuts down Fusion, Synchro, Ritual and Xyz decks cold. That and any future cards Konami will ever release that revolve around Special Summoning. Not a good way to sell cards, is it? And even being limited to 1 did not help.
  • Stratos - The problem isn't Stratos itself, it's all the other drawing options Warrior-themed decks have (Reinforcement of the Army, The Warrior Returning Alive etc.) that makes it hard for other decks to compete in terms of hand advantage. Back when Stratos was less limited opponents would just get suffocated of cards.
  • Tsukuyomi - As far as I know Tsukuyomi was banned because her effect could be exploited with Flip monsters. Can't say what the future holds for those.
  • Scapegoat - Tributing for card effects and easy Synchro. The tributing part is particularly troublesome with the new Hieratic archetype.
  • Wall of Revealing Light - Stops about anything that most decks put out and gives you an easy way to reduce your own Life Points to any value you want, which can be abused with cards like Hope for Escape and Chaos Xyz monsters (that require 1000 Life Points or less).
  • E-Call - See Stratos.
  • A hero Lives - See E-Call.
  • Ojama Trio - Because it is hard for most decks to do anything about the tokens, and they cripple Synchro and Xyz decks because they can neither summon a monster that needs 3 materials nor can they have more than 1 at a time.
  • Stardust - The fact of the matter is that destruction effects have been slowly phasing out in favor of removal effects (banishing and bouncing), which has resulted in it being very hard to capitalize on Stardust's effect. As for Quasar, Konami has shown a preference to nix cards that let you summon it easily (like Glow-Up Bulb rather than restricting it itself.
  • Laval - The reason things remained the way they are is because up until recently Fire Decks in general have been performing very poorly. But with the addition of Cosmo Blazer and the Fire King structure deck some Laval cards could get the ban-hammer.

Hey don't forget that "E-HERO Stratos" also searched himself, where "Machina Gearframe" can't. Plus, "Tsukuyomi" is male, hence the Adam's apple seen on the artwork. --iFredCat 12:21, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

Listing fixed so that it's easier for all of us to read. I think everyone above me has posted sufficient answers to the poster's questions, though. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 02:42, November 29, 2012 (UTC)

Addendum: Ojama Trio Tokens are still removable via Synchro Summon. Still, with proper timing, one can still use it to clog the opponent's field before a Tuner can surface and thus deny a potential swarm. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 02:42, November 29, 2012 (UTC)
Not just Synchro Summon, you still can using those Token as Fusion Material for Ojama Knight, 2 of 3 removed from that field easily. --iFredCat 02:45, November 29, 2012 (UTC)
While that is also possible, it's also usually unlikely. More likely would be an E-HERO Deck using them as Fusion Material for The Shining. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 01:04, November 30, 2012 (UTC)
Indeed, the only trouble of the Ojama Trio is Tribute Summon/Material for Xyz Monster - good thing I didn't say anything about Ritual Monsters. --iFredCat 01:08, November 30, 2012 (UTC)
True about Synchro, but the tokens are still a problem if the deck is focused on a specific theme of Synchro, and thus requires monsters of specific type or attribute. So my above statement stands, albeit with a slight note. --Eps01 (talkcontribs) 09:10, December 3, 2012 (UTC)
