Forum:Blackwings: the new meta archetype

From Yugipedia
Jump to: navigation, search

Just as I predicted, people are falling in love with Blackwings as soon as Raging Battle touched occident, specially at my local store. EVERYONE FREAKING WANTS THEM. Even those Meta-gamers who already have the other metas I won't bother to list again. And of course, either they wanna make a Deck outta them or mix them with other Metas and make their decks even more broken.

But be honest, do you see Blackwing's future as a new Metagame archetype or not? Well I can't sadly think else. The Blackwings come with an already perfect playstyle. I'm gonna end killing myself at trying to find the perfect Anti-Meta for all this. :B

On a Lighter side, most of the people who bought the Raging Battle boxes are selling away his Blackwings (including me). No doubt there's a big fortune to be made outta this. Doczo 02:42, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

  • They are the next archetype to be exploited by players. But just as Blackwings are arriving, so are Koa'ki Meiru. They are able to cripple Meta decks. Get a Koa'ki Meiru Dragon on the field and keep it there, and you can easily beat a meta deck, assuming it is early enough in the duel. Also, use Shadow Imprisoning Mirror, and/or Light Imprisoning Mirror. Where do you sell your Blackwings, and how much for? (I like them, but they just aren't my style.) • I'm selling them on my local store, and I sell them at their original price (with a small discount of course). Sorry, I never sell any of my stuff online. Doczo 02:57, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
  • And also, I sort of disagree with ya. Koa'Ki Meirus may be excelent for bringing down Metas, but Metas STILL have the power to destroy them. Why? Because Koa'Ki Meirus ain't flexible, and have a very risky cost. But do the Blackwings have any of these downsides? NO. They can bring down any anti-meta quicker than anti-metas take to bring them down. Doczo 03:17, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I'm not looking to buy, but rather to sell and was just seeing what they go for. I don't use them and would rather get something in return for what I deem as useless to my deck(s). Messengerofthedark 03:04, 17 May 2009 (UTC)Messengerofthedark

Blackwing is going to be the next big thing in YuGioh! I can't believe how expensive the blackwing synchros are! Metagame.com 06:07, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Im a lightsworn fan but Im also a fan of this archtype and Im now challenge to duel against this archtype..

  • Blackwings are fairly powerful and are indeed a step above some of the run of the mill decks. However I wouldn't consider them 100% guarenteed meta yet. So far Lightsworns, Rescue Cat, And Gladiator beasts, along with a few random decks have been running the OCG meta for a while. And that is including the fact that Blackwings are already completely out there with all of the support even from ancient prophecy. Also there is a serious flaw in their playstyle as they mainly focus on using the tuner Gale the Whirlwind, if gale ever got limited they would die faster than traditional beatdown decks did when archetypes came out. (no joke, beatdown fails compared to most things that are made by konami). Also because they are all dark, shadow imprisoning mirror is crazy good. Though their play style does have immense deck thinning due to the new support the main problem is the back row.
  • Most meta decks until now have had a couple of things in common.

1) They have a way of destroying/getting rid of the back row somehow. Lightsworns is Lyla, GB's its gyzarus. Synchro cat is Mist wurm I think...I dunno synchro cat isnt out here b/c lack of synchros. - Blackwings could arguably use Icarus attack however icarus has a tribute cost which lowers the amount of blackwings on the field, when you have less blackwings its a bad situation. Same with six sams, less = bad. You WANT those monsters on the field. 2) Most meta decks have the possibility/capability of using cold wave. Synchro cat, GB's, and Lightsworns can all use cold wave. Not that they should but they can. - I prefer Giant trunade though its limited..(Why is it limited again?) 3) Meta decks have the uncanny ability to come back from almost any loss for a win. Blackwings die once they lose hand advantage, similar to how six sams die without their hand. GB's can top deck a rescue cat and its all good, Lightsworns can mill a wulf or two or maybe a necro gardna, or stall that one extra turn for judgment. Synchro cat - Dunno but it has been topping at tournaments like crazy.

  • In short I don't think they will rule the meta YET, though they will be a popular deck type for a while (Just like how six sams is still popular even if it was killed.). If dark armed was still at two I think they would be at the top of the meta no question. In my deck once I get dark armed out, you pretty much are boned as I have 3-6 breaks right off the bat from synchroing. Oh and a beatstick to get rid of that GB thats face up so I can destroy chariot.
  • PS: To the guy who said he wanted to play against Blackwings with Lightsworns, Lightsworns should win hands down so sorry to ruin your fun ):.--Takuma. 07:18, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

according to your rules they are near meta 1) they have delta crow 2)they can use cold wave, they dont need traps or spells except to protect the weaker mosters on your opponents turn and that is the same with any deck 3) i do that on a weekly basis with my deck i nearly always top deck something good.

as for its weaknesses every play style has to have one, lightsworns risk decking out, gb are in trouble if they cant fuse or use there effects or cant tag out. blackwings can easily replenish there hand through cards like morphing jar and reckless greed as for shadow imprisoning mirror i can say the same about light iprisoning mirror for lightsworns. oh and ive beaten several meta decks (including lightsworn and twighlight) with my blackwings, it may of been close but i still won. also while your attacking so you can get rid of chariot ill be laughing when they bluff you and its actually a mirror force, not everyone is so predictable.--Chaos soldier 09:12, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Well yeah, though I personally do not consider them to be as high as current meta though extremely close. Delta crow only kills facedowns, if they chain those cards it is not destroyed. For example skill drain, threatening roar, and others. From my experience Delta Crow has been a dead draw at times and a fairly good draw at others, I decided to go without it because any dead draw for me sucks. As for cold wave...They cannot use cold wave. Too much of their support/defense relies on sp/tr and they do not have any sp/tr destruction that works with cold wave other than Battlestorm (Which sucks so much).

  • Delta crow does work sorta if you use it though, Black Whirlwind can't be used with cold wave, and refilling the hand through reckless is too slow. Morphing Jar should work...though discarding your hand isn't necessary for me as I have always liked to keep hand advantage and not run through my cards ASAP, so I always have cards in hand. Blackwings can swarm extremely fast but I find that is highly ineffective sometimes. There's no need for you to be hostile though (b/c of the mirror force comment), I just happen to know when certain ppl I play REGULARLY play a chariot or a mirror force, that and I am told I am extremely lucky for no explained reason. Besides that...its not like I will just drop Dark Armed if I wasn't confident in defending it in some way because its limited to one. On several occasions I have synchro'ed into Stardust then played dark armed. Though...the loss of dark armed isn't that bad for me b/c I still have backup strategies. In my opinion, Lightsworns still have the advantage mainly due to the fact that they can build on both offense and defense at the same time through their milling. That and they are getting Black Shining G, Synchros are officially nothing to them if they side those in.--Takuma. 05:23, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

I apologeise if i sounded hostile but i am fed up with certain people being over confident were i play, i guess i did over react. your points are good unfortunateley i havent had the chance to get the new blackwing cards because raging battle was delayed here so i dont have any first hand experience with them.--Chaos soldier 13:56, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
