I've been asking for a bot. There are many good reasons to have a bot. They make edits for you. But there are some downsides: a bot inpersonator drove one of our best duelists away. --My Name Is Rikoshet, I'ma Kill You! (talkcontribs) 20:45, October 23, 2011 (UTC)

Looking at your comments on Dinoguy's talk page, I don't think you quite know what a bot is. Most MediaWiki bots are accounts that a user accesses through special software which helps them make repetitive edits quicker. Chatroom bots usually make certain automatic responses depending on what other users do.
The only things you can request here are permission to use bot software and a "bot" flag, which stops the bot's edits appearing in RecentChanges and WikiActivity to prevent flooding. You need to know how to operate the bots yourself before being given either of these.
Does that make things any clearer? If you still want to use a bot, what do you want it to do? -- Deltaneos (talk) 22:04, October 23, 2011 (UTC)

Wait, i need special software like download stuff? --My Name Is Rikoshet, I'ma Kill You! (talkcontribs) 23:29, October 28, 2011 (UTC)

Right, I'm not an official of Yugioh Wikia by any means, but I'll throw in my two cents. I've seen your requests for a bot, and whenever you've been asked "Why?", you've never responded with an answer detailing exactly what you need one for. For instance, I currently am interested in using a bot - If someone was to ask me why, I would explain that the main reason is to add a Category tag to the 700+ Tag Force artworks on the Wikia, and to help create Tag Force gallery sets like I have been doing manually. I don't know if a bot is able to help with the actual uploading of images, but if it did it would be a great help as I have a backlog of around 5,000 images that will end up on this Wikia. But yes, any request for a Wikia bot and/or a bot flag do need to be backed-up with hardcore proof that it is necessary for you to have one. Prior experience in using bots, and previous knowledge in using one, is also necessary - Would you let a 17-year-old drive a car if he didn't know how? No, it'd cause problems. It's the exact same concept here. AEtherchild (talkcontribs) 02:29, November 1, 2011 (UTC)
