Forum:Burn in terms of the latest format

I wanted to know how a burn deck does in the wake of decks like tele-DAD and lightsworn. I know if you wanted to run a burn deck, it would would have to be modified to even stand a chance in this format. What are some good strategies and cards that would make a burn deck playable? Thanks.

Zombies are meta and they have cards that can "burn", so I guess it wouldn't hurt to mix them together. ex: Zombie Mammoth + Creature Swap = You lose a spell + monster + gain foe's monster and the foe loses a monster+1900 LP. Everliving Underworld Cannon nets you 800 damage every time you special summon, unfortunately, you can only use it's effect once per turn. It also turns out to be a dead draw if you don't have any special summons to use it. ex: you draw the cannon when you could've drawn something like Book of Life or Mezuki.

Maybe someone could build a deck full of thinning cards and searching cards, and utilize a Cannon Soldier+Black Ptera+Ultimate Offering+Mysterious Puppeteer combo. It's almost like Exodia, but much easier to search for. Mysterious Puppeteer isn't even required if your LP is 500 at least points higher than your opponent's. This probably won't work, but it might with all these draw cards out there. I mean, just look at TeleDaD, that deck draws and searches like crazy. They only have 3 solemns in their deck, but they always seem to have one set on the field. 0RLY 01:13, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

  • Such decks are too slow, and would be thrashed in today's metagame. I personally run a very successful burn deck, which consistently takes down GBs, Tele-DAD, Lightsworn and Zombies. Its simply consists of 2 draw engines and lots of one-shot burn cards. That easy. For instance, Tremendous Fire, Poison of the Old Man, Chain Strike. For drawing power, I use Reckless Greed and Good Goblin Housekeeping. This is the only kind of burn deck that can survive, IMHO. --Darth Covah 06:09, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
