can i special summon it myself if i discard it by using a trap jammer, lightning vortex, or tribute to the doomed? or does it have to specifically be my opponents. because the first sentence of GOLDD, WU-LORD OF DARK WORLD makes me think i could do it too. thanks :] Death At A Rave! Dark World monsters' eff only activate when they are discarded by an effect, not for cost.-- (talkcontribs) 01:13, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

so is that a yes?? Death At A Rave! (talkcontribs) 01:14, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

Discard with "jammer, lightning vortex, or tribute to the doomed" are discard for cost, not effect.-- (talkcontribs) 01:15, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
That, and the former effect usually just requires it to be discarded by effect regardless of you or the opponent, the other effect requires it to be done by the opponent, although Reign-Beaux, Overlord of Dark World requires it to be discarded by your opponents effect, without that nothing happens --slave(commandworks) 01:19, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
It doesn't matter who discards it; it's still Special Summoned. The other additional effect is applied only if discarded by the opponent, however.
Also, every card you listed is WRONG. Trap Jammer Doesn't discard anything. The others discard for their activation cost, so they won't trigger Goldd, or any other Dark World, who needs to be discarded by a card effect, which doesn't include discarding as part of a cost or by game mechanics. How what?-- (talkcontribs) 01:19, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

would you give me an exaample of how then?? thanksDeath At A Rave! (talkcontribs) 01:19, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

how it would be special summoned? cause isnt tribute to the doomed a card effect?? Death At A Rave! (talkcontribs) 01:20, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

Use cards have eff (not cost) that discard.-- (talkcontribs) 01:21, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

can you name some cards, please? thanksDeath At A Rave! (talkcontribs) 01:22, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

Dark World Dealings will discard a card as an effect which activates 1 of your typical Dark World monsters, eg Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World would get special summoned but nothing else, although if you used dark world dealings on Ceruli, Guru of Dark World he would get discarded and special summoned to your opponents side of the field at which point his effect would activate which would count as your opponents effect - to discard a card, thus you could then discard Gold and activate both of his effects... --slave(commandworks) 01:23, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

ohhh, i see. so cards that require a discard in order for it to work dont apply? only cards that makes discarding as part of itss activation, like after its activated/ comes with it. u know what i mean?Death At A Rave! (talkcontribs) 01:25, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

Yes that, they are worded very strangely but yes :) --slave(commandworks) 01:25, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

do you guys know any cards that work good with it?? :]Death At A Rave! (talkcontribs) 01:27, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

Here's a list: discards for effect. --Missign0 (talkcontribs) 01:28, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
Card Destruction, Dark World Dealings, Dark World Lightning, Dragged Down into the Grave, etc.
Dark World themselves have a lot of supporting spell, and you don't know what cards to use?-- (talkcontribs) 01:28, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
And not to be condescending, but just in case you haven't read it: Dark World --slave(commandworks) 01:29, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

When it comes to cards with PSCT, pay attention to the semicolons. Things one does prior to the semicolons are costs. If it has something like "you can discard 1 card to (action); (rest of effect)", that discard is part of the cost, and Dark World monsters will not trigger their effects that way. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 02:03, October 26, 2013 (UTC)

Identifying costs is easier these days thanks to problem solving card text, with the semicolons pointing out that its a cost, like said in the above post. However: for older cards, you MUST pay much closer attention; it's often far less intuitive. In those cases, you must note the word "to", like an older version of Zombie Master: "Once per turn, you can send 1 Monster Card from your hand to the graveyard*to* special summon...(ignoring rest of effect as it's irrelevant.)" Other times, you must simply take note if it's separate from the rest of the card's effect, like an older version of Magical Stone Excavation: "Discard 2 cards. Add 1 Spell card..." Notice how the "Discard 2 cards is broken up from the rest of the effect. That can usually identify a cost, but it isn't foolproof. I think there are a number of exceptions, such as a number of false cases like the older Pot of Avarice (don't know if it's been errata'd lately): "Select 5 monsters in your graveyard. Shuffle them into..." that's not exactly a cost, but I don't know when exactly the targetting applies. But do note that the older cards aren't as coherent as the newer ones. Pot of Avarice did get an errata to reflect PSCT. Regardless, it still targets all 5 cards in the Graveyard. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 03:00, October 26, 2013 (UTC)
