Forum:Candidates for Quick Deletion

I've noticed a trend with Candidates for Deletion: if they aren't deleted within a few minutes, they don't seem to get deleted at all, regardless of how obvious it is that they should be. There is an option to tag pages as Candidates for speedy deletion ({{Delete|quick=true}}), and these are generally dealt with immediately. The problem is that this option doesn't auto-complete itself the way the "Delete" tag does. Casual editors may not realize how to add it.

One issue seems to be that an Administrator wants some discussion before deleting a page, but that means an article may sit for months or longer as a candidate for deletion, which looks a tag tacky in my opinion. So the two questions I ask are:

1. Can {{Delete|quick=true}} be changed into an auto-completing option the way {{Delete}} is?

2. Can a group of editors take the time to go through the Candidates for Deletion that are deserving of discussion and come to a conclusion as to whether or not they should be deleted?

Thanks all. --Golden Key (talkcontribs) 02:15, October 6, 2011 (UTC)

We do need a better way to deal with these. I do try to occasionally go through the candidates category and delete what I feel comfortable deleting. However, there are several there that have been candidates since before I became an admin and are still sitting there today, as I'm not convinced they should go. I agree. There are pages that have been marked for deletion since before I became active here in 2009, let alone since either of us became an admin. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 01:46, October 10, 2011 (UTC)
