Special:Chat on Central.

There's a new Wikia chat feature. It's a Special:Page that functions as an online chat. Registered users are able to use it to talk with each other in real time without making any edits. It's somewhat similar to the IRC channel. Unlike IRC it's directly connected to your Wikia account, so there's no set-up or extra registration required.

It's still only being tested, but wikis are able to request to have it setup. I'm wondering if we should have it setup? It's won't be a replacement for talk pages or IRC. Important discussions should still take place on talk pages.

You can have visit Special:Chat on Wikia Central if you want to see what it's like. Don't worry, your IP won't be visible. Handy features like timestamps don't exist yet, but should be added soon. Admins and staff are able to ban users. (It currently has an odd setup so admins can't unban users, but that should be fixed too).

The IRC channel here, imo is rather confusing to use. It also seems to be outdated compared to VSTF's IRC (which is much more straight forward to use). But the chat feature seems to be way easier to use than both IRC channels, so I too am in favour of adding that feature here. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 12:58, April 30, 2011 (UTC)

WikiaLabs enabled

Wikia Labs (useskin=wikia) has been enabled here now. Admins can turn on and off certain features. Once chat gets added to Wikia Labs, we should be able to turn it on ourselves if it's wanted. -- Deltaneos (talk) 20:07, May 26, 2011 (UTC)

I am agree with Coffeedude, I like the Talk Page better than this extra shit. What if I went to work while chatroom is still running, and by the time I returned, it's already shut down with all information I need there are gone. It is possible to have both article comments and talk pages. See w:c:avatar:Katara for example. I don't like article comments either way. They get added to the end of an article like a == section ==, the comments are usually unimportant and fill the recent changes with junk. Plus the setup is very messy. Each comment has its own page, so for example an article on an OCG card with 100 comments getting renamed after its English name is announced will add an extra 100 page moves to the recent changes and move log. -- Deltaneos (talk) 00:46, May 27, 2011 (UTC)

Article Comments - terrible indeed. Seen it on other wikias, encourages more spam. For actual comments, the talk pages and forum should be more than enough.

I can actually see the Top 10 list being a good idea if it's set up the right way (I'm sure it probably isn't).

That's different. The category galleries referred to in Wikia Labs are like this one. You can switch between "list view" and "exhibition view" and change the sorting order. -- Deltaneos (talk) 16:22, May 27, 2011 (UTC)

It's also utterly broken in Monobook (like just about every other feature introduced since Oasis was released). And I swear Wikia has never heard of "copyright" or "fair use"; using fair-use images in categories is not really a good idea (unless the wiki has gone the route of using categories as subject pages, which is a different story altogether), and yes, that means I think we need to __NOGALLERY__ all of our categories that handle images. 「ダイノガイ千？！」^{? · ☎ Dinoguy1000} 20:11, May 28, 2011 (UTC)

As long they continue to let us use MonoBook, I'm happy. If they take that away, I'd probably stop editing. There are probably many more people (poor bastards) using the new skin than MonoBook though, so not supporting it in updates makes some degree of sense. So Wikia is violating it's own policy? @Dinoguy: Notifications are on the list of requested features. Monchoman45 has also written some JavaScript hacks that includes your username or any term you specify being highlighted when it's said, accompanied by a ping sound. Although users are discouraged from using the hacks, unless they know what they are doing, since they could cause problems as the feature is updated. -- Deltaneos (talk) 02:07, July 3, 2011 (UTC)
