I've been working on a Dark Magician (archetype) deck for a friend of mine, how did we do with such limited cards?Djt08031996 (talkcontribs) 18:10, January 28, 2014 (UTC)

Generally Speaking, most of the ritual monsters available are not worth using, seeing as both cards, as well as at least 1 other monsters with the number of stars, are required to be in your hand. And in the live game, witch of the black forest is banned, but if you're not playing in tournaments or anything like that, it should be fine. Tiki curse is probably not worth using, trap cards that function as a monster are rare enough, and not often used, it can, I believe, be used as an instant tribute, if you control another monster, say, magical ghost (which i would recommend changing, normal monsters are only really useful for beatsticks and synchro/xyz, neither of which are available in this deck, as is), you could activate the trap, then tribute for a dark magician. Most of your cards seem to be pretty basic, which isn't bad of course, but there is little deck advantage, and special summoning is limited. Even field advantage is relatively weak, your most powerful cards could be knocked off by virtually anything, traps, spells, effect monsters. Likewise, magician of black chaos, dark magician, and the dark sage that could prove useful have no advantage outside of a beatstick. I would recomend putting together an extra deck, and play around with the deck itself to throw in some tuners. P0ptart h3r0 (talkcontribs) 18:48, February 1, 2014 (UTC)

I suppose I could see what all Numbers he has that could work in here, but we're really limited here because he won't buy new cardsDjt08031996 (talkcontribs) 23:00, February 5, 2014 (UTC)

let's see what we can do with some new cardsDjt08031996 (talkcontribs) 17:05, February 16, 2014 (UTC)

he should be able to get the wicked gods for himself so he can use double coston's effect on themDjt08031996 (talkcontribs) 04:09, April 27, 2014 (UTC)

As a rule of thumb: If anything requires 2 or more name-specific cards on the field to Summon, it's a hassle. Don't simply toss in boss monsters unless the Deck can consistently meet their requirements. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 15:38, April 27, 2014 (UTC)

The card De-Spell is rather aweful, replace it with more copies of MST. Also, is it really necessary to have the wicked gods in a deck that lacks (at least from the looks of it) the means of summoning them? Of couse Double Coston is helpful, but it's still not worth it, considering the high Dead Draw probabilities. - BronzeJohnson (talkcontribs) 21:05, April 27, 2014 (UTC)

having a set of gods was his choice after seeing how effective I am with my Egyptian gods, I'm just trying to maintain the best choice, while still keeping it based around his lucky card, dark magicianDjt08031996 (talkcontribs) 14:15, April 28, 2014 (UTC)

let's try fitting it into a template that helped make even a "scatter-minded", "hopeless", "inconsistant" deck strong still needed: 2 level 4 or lower monsters, 2 level 5 or 6 monsters, 2 field spells, 2 splashable spells, and 2 support trapsDjt08031996 (talkcontribs) 14:53, April 29, 2014 (UTC)

Silent Magician LV10 does not exist. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 12:18, April 30, 2014 (UTC)
huh, could have sworn I saw it in the database, oh well, that just makes room for another Dark MagicianDjt08031996 (talkcontribs) 14:21, April 30, 2014 (UTC)

well, all that's left now is the support traps (I'm thinking List of Spellcaster-Type support cardsDjt08031996 (talkcontribs) 22:04, June 3, 2014 (UTC)

Before you go on, I'd really like to say that there's a lot more potential to Dark Magician than just being able to summon him. This deck looks fairly good at getting him on the field, but if that's overall your best play, you're going to get overwhelmed pretty fast. My overall point is that this deck needs more support for dark magician WHEN he is summoned. Recommendations are: Choose a field spell that supports spellcasters. Spellcasters have some pretty powerful field cards, most notably Secret Village of the Spellcasters and Citadel of Endymion. The former being for a deck that wants to achieve partial lockdown (full lockdown if you choose to run Sorcerer of Dark Magic, but that may not be for this deck). Overall, I recommend the citadel of Endymion; you can use the stored spell counters to summon dark magicians with SDM, for the summoning of Silent Magician lvl 8, and other effects. Provide options to protect Dark Magician. As a normal monster, Dark Magician needs a lot of support to stay on the field. To aid in this, I recommend the monster Defender, the Magical Knight and the trap card Gagaga Shield. Check both of these cards out, as they can make Dark Magician a very hardy monster. More spells, less monsters? Tribute summoning Dark Magician is just plain hard so I think even more special summoning options are in order. Try checking out Sage's Stone, Double Summon, and Fires of Doomsday, and consider adding more copies of Magical Dimension, too. As users of spellcasters, Magical Dimension is one of our most powerful assets (the effect that destroys a monster on the field is not a targeted effect, so we can even take out monsters like the Egyptian gods with it!). One more small thing: Consider adding either another Magician's Valkyria or Miracle Flipper. If you get two magician's valkyria's or one magician's valkyria and a miracle flipper on the field, your opponent won't be able to attack.TheElementalist14 (talkcontribs) 01:11, June 6, 2014 (UTC)

With Magical Dimension and Dark Magic Curtain to trick out Dark Magician, Summoner's Art to tutor him, Ancient Rules to SS him, and Spell Power Grasp to accelerate Skilled Dark Magician to 3 Counters, there's nearly no reason to Normal Summon Dark Magician, really. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 04:17, June 6, 2014 (UTC)

then I'll use the magician's valkyria lockdownDjt08031996 (talkcontribs) 13:42, June 6, 2014 (UTC)
