Forum:Deciding between an Alien and a Venom deck.

Ok so i have decided to give my Horus Lockdown deck a little break and im now looking toward a Venom or Alien deck (possibly even just a Reptile one.) Now im not sure how to build any of the decks and i was wondering if anybody could help me identify the pro's and cons of each deck and how competitive each deck is. I do realise i have been posting alot on the same topic but what can i say :D. DragonDude 22:52, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

~~ Venoms require less overall strategy, in general. You just need to get Venom Swamp out to weaken your opponent, get as many reptiles into your grave, and summon Vennominion or Vennominaga. The rest will take care of itself, particularly if you keep Venom Swamp up and running with Field Barrier. Speedball 22:21, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

answer

yeah vennom it´s much better than aliens, aliens are weak in comparation and they are cheap except for vennominaga

better answer

Go with aliens. They are much more flexible than Venom monsters and can be combined with several other cards. However, a combination deck could be good, but you'd have to be careful about which cards you choose to put in it. Ripsteed 01:24, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Aliens are better supported, and are used in an undifined deck style. Venom decks are slow, but if you survive for a while, it'll be d-day for your opponent --Tantara 22:52, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Handling Venoms

Venoms are, sadly, rather unsupported. They would be better if more of their ilk were made.

Anyway, first things first, get Venom Swamp out and defend it fiercely. Otherwise without it your counters don't do anything. You also might want to throw in a few beatsticks too while waiting for Swamp - Alien Shocktrooper and Gagagigo are good for this purpose.

The only "Venom" monsters you'd want to Normal Summon are Venom Serpent, Snake, and Cobra. Boa is too weak for his level, while you'd rather bring out Vennominon with Damage = Reptile.

Vennominaga is very hard to summon, I don't recommend going through the trouble despite its godliness. Needing a certain trap card that has its own requirements? Ack. But if you're willing to go through the trouble, combine Limit Reverse with Vennominon. Switch to Defense when the time is right, and your god comes knocking around.

That's just a few pointers in creating a Venom Deck. Try it out and see. Gadjiltron 11:57, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

My Answer

I would go with aliens. Why? They have a lot more support. I made a venom deck on my WC08 and it took forever to get out Venomanaga and use her effect (I was not really even worth it), but D=R is a good way to bring Venominon out. But I still think the aliens are much better. Dmaster (Contribs Count) 15:03, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Unless you have a miraculous way of getting Vennominaga out in the first turn, then run Venom. Venom can be run two ways, but I prefer the Vennominaga Hyper-Counter win. The other way is the gradual process of draining out your enemy using venom counters, allowing you to "control" the field. However, it's slow. As for Aliens, it has much more extensive support power as there are definitely more cards to go along with. Take note that Aliens must be within their own deck - not to be mixed with any other, since many of their cards rely on their unique A-Counter. If you can use Aliens proficiently, smartly, and with a hint of mischief, it can be a pretty powerful deck. All in all, I personally would not run either archetype as both are too slow in my opinion. I hope this helps you. Chris427 00:12, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

  • I agree with Chris... wouldn't use either, check out Zombie decks... conservative style players usually love this one... --Tantara 01:32, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
