"The numbers! What do they mean?"

Quite a while ago, we received the Number Hunters pack, and with it, a number of cards that were formerly anime-exclusive, and other Numbers that we've never seen before. Simply putting all the cool stuff into a single contest won't really be ideal since there's a whole lot of content to explore, so this part covering Number Hunters shall focus around the Numbers coming from the pack.

Guidelines

  • All OCG and TCG cards are fine, as long as it has been released proper.
  • Deck must be in Template:Decklist.
  • This contest will be in March 1st, 2013 Banlist. Don't use either September 2013 Banlist yet.
  • You will be given maybe 1 day if you are late to post, after that, you're out.
  • Deck submissions will open on August 30th, 2013, and are due September 1st, 2013.

Sorry guys, but I don't think I can submit my deck on time. :( Fallensilence (talkcontribs) 00:48, August 30, 2013 (UTC)

Is it too late to enter the competition? I never participated in one, but I'm interested in making the Gimmick Puppet deck. In fact, I made a little Decklist for it after Number Hunters was released. --Moja619 (talkcontribs) 22:41, August 30, 2013 (UTC)

Hesitantly speaking in Gadjiltron's stead, I don't think so, so long as you submit the Decklist by Sep 1st. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 22:47, August 30, 2013 (UTC)
UK, isn't your thought kinda contradictory? --Dark Ace SP (Talk) 23:13, August 30, 2013 (UTC)
You are still permitted to register and submit the Deck even after the submissions are open. Just that you have less time to fine-tune the Deck. Go for it. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 01:32, August 31, 2013 (UTC)
@Dark Ace, what I meant was "I don't think it's too late for you to enter the competition." --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 02:16, August 31, 2013 (UTC)

Chronomaly

The "Chronomaly" cards tells the history of our past, and maybe there will be more of them at the future, but at the present, thank to the Number Hunters, it's finally possible to build a complete "Chronomaly" Deck.

First a quick review about the previous released cards:

  • Crystal Skull: the main searcher/recycler of the Deck.
  • Crystal Bones: Special Summons itself, along another Chronomaly, usually the Skull for a Rank 3.
  • Moai: also Special Summons itself, for a quick Rank 5.
  • Tula Guardian: another one that Special Summons itself, works well with Moai.
  • Golden Jet: a Level 4 monster that can increase the Level of the Chronomalies.

Now, the new ones:

  • Aztec Mask Golem: Special Summons itself if a "Chronomaly" Spell Card was activated that turn. Being the only Level 4 to do that, it works well with "Golden Jet" for either a Rank 4 or 5.
  • Sol Monolith: the only Level 6 of the Chronomalies, this card can turn the Level of another "Chronomaly" monster 6, for a easy Rank 6 like "Atlandis".
  • Cabrera Trebuchet: one of the few Chronomalies that don't have a summon-based effect. Once per turn it can Tribute a "Chronomaly" monster to make the ATK of an opponent's monster 0, what works perfect with "Machu Mech".
  • Mud Golem: while face-up, all Chronomalies gain piercing. Simple as that, it takes care of defensive monsters while "Cabrera" takes care of offensive ones.

With the theme of Number Hunters, the Extra Deck is full of Rank 3, 4, 5 and 6 Numbers. The Spells and Traps include "City Babylon" for swarm and to use "Tula", "Pyramid Eye Tablet" for more power, "Technology" and "Stonehenge Methods" for more searchs, along the basic Staples. --Missign0 (talkcontribs) 05:13, September 1, 2013 (UTC)

Gimmick Puppet

Well, this is my first participation in a Deckbuilding contest, so let's see how well I fare.

I decided to put together a Gimmick Puppet deck because I think the GPs are an interesting archetype and could be fun to play with. I know that I can use OCG cards for the deck but I decided to stick with TCG cards only. I decided to pair the GPs with Machinas because 2 of them are Level 8 which makes them perfect fodder for Machina Fortress. Plus, both archetypes are Machines so I added a few Machine support cards. I also added the EARTH Dragon Rulers since the majority of the monsters are EARTH. This deck is mostly built for Xyz Summoning, and is capable of summoning Rank 4, Rank 7 and Rank 8 monsters. The rank 8 summons are mostly made by summoning the level 8 GPs from the hand or graveyard, but mostly the latter, for which I included Monster Reborn, Call of the Haunted and Limit Reverse. The other GPs are there two match their levels up with the level 8 GPs for the rank 8 summons. The Machinas are there mostly to pitch the level 8 GPs to summon Fortress. And the Earth Dragon Rulers are there to send Fortress and for summoning the GPs from the Graveyard. Armageddon Knight is just there to send a level 8 GP to the Graveyard for revival later.

Here's an example of a combo that can be pulled off with this Deck. You'll need Reactan, Fortress, Monster Reborn, Gear Changer and a level 8 GP in your hand for it.

-pitch Reactan and Fortress with Reactan's effect; SS Redox from your Deck

-pitch the level 8 GP with Fortress' effect; SS Fortress form the Graveyard

-overlay Redox and Fortress for a rank 7 summon

-activate Monster Reborn; SS the level 8 GP from the graveyard

-Normal Summon Gear Changer; use its effect to make it Level 8

-overlay both GPs for a rank 8 summon

So you end up with a rank 7 monster AND a rank 8 monster. Cool, huh? And the deck offers a few alternatives for pulling off this combo as well (Call or Limit Reverse instead of MR, Redox in the hand and another in the Graveyard instead of Reactan, Gold Sarc to banish Redox in case you don't have either Dragon Ruler)

Well, there you have it. I hope you liked this deck and found it fun to play with. Thanks and happy voting! --Moja619 (talkcontribs) 03:12, September 2, 2013 (UTC)

Number 54: Lion Heart

The Deck title says it all. Usually my opponent will attack my Set recruiter monster, springing forth 2 more, which I can usually Normal Summon another monster to seal the deal. "BLS" is a recent addition that I have had not time to test; I replaced "Unknown Synchron" with it because it wasn't doing much for me, and threw in an "Effect Veiler" to add another LIGHT.
The "Little Troopers" are the remnants of the gimmicky Level 1 recruiter monsters I used. They were previously used to Special Summon "Big One Warriors" as well (which were replaced by "Turbo Boosters"). I kept them in because they had better ATK and DEF stats than the other recruiters.
The 2 copies of "The Fool" are for situations when my opponent would keep depleting my recruiters rapidly, giving me a means to stall while I set up for "Number 54".
"Mystic Piper" and "Kinka-Byo" are kept in low quantities because I want to bring out "Number 54" as quick as possible, then dig through my Deck for protection (The "Where Arf Thou?" helps search them out anyways). The rest of the Monster and Spell selection should be self-explantory.
"Number Wall" is key here. I particularly love when my opponent uses a card removal effect on "Number 54", after which I Chain "Number Wall". Now they have to destroy "Number Wall"! "Forbidden Lance" takes care of any weakness of "Number Wall", along with the 2 "Fiendish Chains", "Effect Veiler", and "Black Horn of Heaven". ("Horn" eliminates any problem monsters, such as "Number 50: Black Corn", "Scrap Dragon" and "Black Rose Dragon", in case I can't get to "Number Wall" in time.) No monster Trap removal because I want to keep my opponent's monsters around! ^^
Pro Tip: I love using "Turbo Booster" to eliminate problem monsters such as "BLS", though that occurs rarely.
The only problems thus far with this Deck are "Prophecy" match-ups (where they use "Spellbook of Fate" repeatedly), "Fire Fist" match-ups (they can keep their card advantage, search easily, AND have "Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Tiger King", and when my opponent doesn't decide to Set/Summon a monster. (Or, they have an Attack Position monster with low ATK, or a Defense Position monster with low DEF. That sometimes changes when they think they can eliminate 54 and make an aggressive play.)
Side Deck:
"Chaos Necromancer" is for the lulz, which can be a good boss monster alongside BLS late in the game. "Droll & Lock Bird" is for "Prophecy" and "Exodia". "Veiler" is obvious. "Level Limit" is mainly for non-Xyz Decks, such as "Gladiator Beasts", "HEROes" and Synchro-oriented Decks. "Imperial Custom" is for when I decide to side in some of my Continuous Traps when I know my opponent has lots of S/T removal. "Iron Wall" is for "Dragon Rulers", "Prophecy" and "Bujin". "Judgment of Anubis" is just there. "Transmigration Break" is mainly for "Madolche" (*hisss*), but can be used against "Gishki" too I guess.
Please, don't feel obligated to include a Side Deck in your Deck submission. I only mention it here to cover my Deck's weaknesses. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 03:55, September 1, 2013 (UTC)

Number 49: Fortune Tune

So...Fortune Tune. A cute looking bird with the ability to bring back monsters from the grave, recover 500 LP for each of the deck's Standby Phases and a nigh impenetrable defence (like Utopia's 'Moon Barrier!', but defensive, so I name it 'Feather Veil!')...ignoring its abysmal stats .

To make this flying fowl the star of the show, I purposely used a deck which needed a source of defence as a linchpin, that is, Direct Burn. Instead of using defensive spells and traps to protect me and my monsters, the deck uses the abilities of Fortune Tune to do so instead, freeing up most of the S&T zone (there are still a few stall cards though. Just in case).

For Direct Attackers, I have Drill Barnacle, as a potential destructive force and distraction, Skystarray, for persistent damage and Cyber Tutu, for a more instant measure of LP reduction (and a lone Spell Striker, for XYZ or another kind of SSR). To support them, the Deck uses Tour Guide (a must, especially since it can be recycled thanks to Fortune Tune) and Crane Crane (resurrects any monster in my deck for an XYZ summon, or Synchro with Resonator).

Where Synchros are concerned, I'll usually be aiming for Mist Wurm, as a means of finishing the opponent off (Vulcan can also do this, to a lesser extent). The obvious choice for XYZs is Fortune Tune, for a decent defence, but there are alternatives.

  • Chronomaly Crystal Alien - Discourages attacks
  • Nightmare Shark - A 2000LP smack
  • Grenosaurus - If 1000LP damage is needed
  • Leviathan Dragon - For an easy 2500ATK beater
  • Giga-Brilliant - Buffs up direct attackers
  • Mechquipped Angineer - Protection for Direct Attakers
  • Terror-Byte - For overly powerful opponents

For Spells and Traps, there's nothing particularly outstanding. The Deck uses Bribe and Breakthrough Skill for any major problems it might encounter (not of the offensive kind. That's what D.P, C.E.D, SoRL, WoRL and HoCW are for). Robbin' Goblin is made for slowing retaliation towards this deck (and if I'm up against a Dark World deck...Robbin' Zombie is sided as a replacement). The lone Icarus Attack is made for Fortune Tune (or Crane Crane I guess), hopefully getting rid of an important card after its protection wears off.

Now for closing words...pinch-punch! First day of the month (hooray! Time flies) Chromace (talkcontribs) 07:54, September 1, 2013 (UTC)
