Forum:Deck Guides Need a Haul over

From Yugipedia
Jump to: navigation, search

So, originally the Deck Guide Project (In the Sticky Section of the General Forum), was created by User:Tantara a few years ago. Since then, some duelists have come along and created new guides, or updated older ones. What I want to suggest, is that if there are GOOD duelists, who understand deck types like a pro, then why not come and try to join and start a new Deck Guide team? All in all, I think most people like the Deck Guides, and I'd like to start a new team to handle the guides/update older ones, since summer is going to be on us in about a month.

Do you guys want to form a new deck guide team? If you support just add your thoughts below. If there is enough support, I'll go ahead and do a total makeover on the Deck Guide Page. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 22:49, May 3, 2012 (UTC)

I'd be up for doing Six Samurai, as it is the deck I'm most familiar with, could help out on a few other's that i've tried using before. Doz Bate: Stay (sic)!! 01:07, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

What I wanted to do is make the page more like Forum:Decks for Free! in terms of the organization. And I was thinking that instead of creating new updated guides to replace old ones, we can just replace the old links with links to the new guides. And I can create a Credit Page of sorts to give credit to the original writer(s), this would ensure that the right person gets credit, but at the same time we can get rid of the current "Updated Guide" Table as well as the tags by some of the older guides.
Maybe we could even set up an editing committee to edit the guides, as well as proof read them. This lets any wiki user create a guide, but at the same time ensures that the guide has the needed information as well. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 01:35, May 4, 2012 (UTC)
  • I'm in two minds. On the one hand, I enjoy this sort of thing, but on the other, my availability fluctuates a lot. There's also the fact that I'm a mostly competitive player, but I've had a dab into many, many archetypes over the years in this game. That being said, put me down as a 'maybe' dependant on the level of commitment involved.--YamiWheeler (talkcontribs) 02:01, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

I'll have plenty of time in a about two weeks once I'm done with exams and my volleyball season is over. Count me in. Lappyzard (talkcontribs) 03:10, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

Same, I'll have lots of time after this month, mostly in the afternoons, since I want to go to morning classes for summer school. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 03:14, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

Hmmm, I'd definitely like to be a part of this. --> Summoned Skull 2: Electric Boogaloo 03:16, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

Joey, almost forgot, it shouldn't be an issue should you want to join. You could just post up the guide link, when you have it done, and can get on. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 03:19, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

I plan to redesign the deck guides page sometime tomorrow. People who want to support this, just add a comment and add name at top. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 03:39, May 4, 2012 (UTC)
I'm still in this. Might not be making Deck Guides as often as I used to, but I'm still updating to include newer cards. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 05:01, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

I would just like to get it out there that the decks I can help out most with are Infernity, Crystal Beasts, Six Sams, Dark World, X-Sabers, and Fabled. --> Summoned Skull 2: Electric Boogaloo 05:07, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

Gadjiltron, we all know your in this. I was going to ask you on your talk page, should you have not responded here. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 12:12, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

I'm pretty good with Flamvells, Six Sams, X-Sabers, and Junk decks. UndiscoveredSong (talkcontribs) 12:14, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

I had planned to do a Laval or Gishki guide, and probably do a remake for the Monarch Guide. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 12:16, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

If you need me for some reason, ask me and I'll help you. BF2 Talk Deck Guides 12:56, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, that can also be good in rough times. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 13:07, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

I went ahead and redid the ENTIRE deck guide page, and any pages that it had links too. As well as created a Credits Page, and other things. Please check the page out, and tell me what you guys think. I'll probably add stuff a Link Format Section, so people know what the format of the link should be, and other things. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 23:36, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

Also, you guys should go to the staff section and add your user names there, if you plan to be a long-term member.

i read that x-saber guide and it is definitly not well written. i can write an updated one. also that outdated machina guide. i think i can make another one. LG talk My own Guides 05:58, May 5, 2012 (UTC)

Sure, but at the same time, I want to set up an editing committee page. That way, you can post a link to the guide, the other writers can comment. Or we can set up hierarchy in forms of a select few being the editors. I personally like the first one, but people have to comment on the other guides for it to work. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 12:46, May 5, 2012 (UTC)
Also, where should we have people comment about the guides they want to do? Some people reply on the main Deck Guide Page and others reply on the Decks to choose from page. Should we ask everyone to talk about the deck guides they want to do on the main page, and ask that only guide suggestions be given on the "Decks to Choose From" page? ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 12:54, May 5, 2012 (UTC)
I think it'd be best for Deck Guide commentary to show up on their respective discussion pages. Point out what is missing/outdated and the writers (if listed as available) can see what to do. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 00:46, May 6, 2012 (UTC)

Currently the Forum:Deck Guide/Decks to Choose From only lists decks that guides have to be made for, should we add guides that need to be updated into this list? Or should we just use the main Forum:Deck Guide for that? -Dark Ace SP (Talk) 13:01, May 5, 2012 (UTC)

They should be combined. LG talk My own Guides 16:15, May 5, 2012 (UTC)

Gadjil, you want to have those commentaries appear on each guide(s) respective forum talk page? ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 12:44, May 6, 2012 (UTC)
I don't see why not. It keeps the advice and commentary organized, at least. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 04:03, May 8, 2012 (UTC)

So, are we re-writing every single old one or are we leaving some of them as-is? --> Summoned Skull 2: Electric Boogaloo 05:18, May 8, 2012 (UTC)

I'm guessing we're rewriting every old one unless the original writer is around to edit their guide accordingly. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 07:31, May 8, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I think almost every guide that was written by another writer should be rewritten. I'll take care of some of that, and move it to the outdated guide section. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 22:27, May 8, 2012 (UTC)
kk. I want to help out as much as needed so I'd like to rewrite some of the old ones, in addition to any that never had guides. --> Summoned Skull 2: Electric Boogaloo 22:58, May 8, 2012 (UTC)
I looked through the guides, and most of the outdated ones, have been placed into the "Outdated Guides" section of the main deck guide page. And the ones that are left were written by Gadjil, so no need to remove those. Anyway, should I make a "Format", so the guide writers know how to post their links to the talk pages of the guides? And the Updated Guide Link Format as well.
For example, Updated Guides use [[Forum:Deck Guide/Blackwing/1|Forum:Deck Guide/Blackwing]], instead of the [[Forum:Deck Guide/Dark World]] format. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 02:00, May 9, 2012 (UTC)

Should we leave Forum:Deck Guide/Decks to Choose From as a separate page, or incorporate it into the existing main page which would be Forum:Deck Guide? ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 02:02, May 9, 2012 (UTC)

Decks to Choose From gives a pretty long list. Better off keeping it as a separate subpage with appropriate link, which is what we're doing now. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 13:35, May 9, 2012 (UTC)
So, I'll add the Link format section to the Main Deck Guide page, and I think that's pretty much it...so I think people can start telling us which decks they want to update/do? If you want to do a guide, go to the main deck guide page, and post that in the Discussion Section. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 02:52, May 11, 2012 (UTC)

Done?

I've added an Editing page, so all the guide writer's can have their guide edited. We don't need to make it a requirement that you need to edit the guide you wrote, because that should be common sense. And if you've written badly, well, your name is on that guide. I've also added more links to the staff links section, and there should be a section that lists the guides that need updates and the person to update them. Just discuss on the main page now, I think the major updates to the Deck Guide page are done. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 14:59, May 12, 2012 (UTC)
