30 card deck

okay, realistically it's 40 cards, but technically 30. all you need to do is have plenty of Jar of Greed's, Upstart Goblin's, or flip effect cards like Skelengel and Dark Mimic LV1's in there. so how does it work out as 30 cards? well you see Jar of Greed for example, is a card that allows you to draw another card. which basically makes it completely pointless, therefore you have pretty much one less card in your deck.

this is an excellent way to bring about a good strategy because if you have 'less' cards in your deck, you're more likely to get the cards you need quickly, before your opponent can stand a chance to build up their own strategy.

the huge downside however, is that having less cards means running out of cards first, just make sure you have a good plan against this!

cards useful to this is:
Reckless Greed
Graceful Charity
Pot of Greed
Pot of Avarice
The Beginning of the End (which happens to be one of my most favorite cards!)
Dark World Dealings (which is best used in conjunction with picking so many cards up anyway)
Card Destruction

variation

Often, you'll come across a player who likes to put 3 of everything in their deck (provided they can of course). which is all very well but it leaves them vulnerable to such cards as Cloak and Dagger or Karma Cut and other variations. if you do this, you might find yourself annoyed that you've got two of the same card in your hand and could really do with a different one! that's why it's generally useful to have all of your cards different. not only will you find that you can make different combinations, but it also helps when dueling different decks.

Delay Tactics

Don't want to use the 30 card deck tactic? but still want to have enough time to get to your strategy? check out these useful cards:
Gravity Bind
Level Limit - Area B
Swords of Revealing Light
Swords of Concealing Light
Nightmare's Steelcage
Messenger of Peace
Frozen Soul
Flashbang
Negate Attack

of course there's more, but listing the easily available ones is the best. these cards are all pretty common so it's easy enough to make a pure Lockdown deck with them.

that's enough from me. i'll be sure to post some new tips in a while.

It's not really the same as having one fewer card in your deck; Jar of Greed needs to wait a turn to activate, Upstart Goblin gives LP to the opponent, and Flip Effect monsters like Dekoichi are both slow and inconsistent, since they not only need to wait a turn but also can be removed without being flipped. The "variation" section is just stupid; if you only run 1 copy of each of your cards, your deck will be about as consistent as Aitsu FTK. The "Delay Tactics" section is a combination of the obvious (LLAB) and the bad (Negate Attack). --Crab Helmet 03:58, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
