Forum:Effect damage deck

I was wondering if anyone had ever tried to make an effective deck based on damage from monster effects, spells or traps. I would think flip effects like Man Eater Bug, or Night Assailant would be useful in such a deck.

These are cards which i would definately use:

Monsters: Man Eater Bug/Night Assailant/Old Vindictive-Magician-all destroy monsters on flipping, Poison Mummy-500 damage and flipping, Mine Golem-500 damage from being destroyed by battle, Marshmallon-1000 damage+can't be destroyed by battle, Princess of Tsurugi-500 damage on flipping per spell/trapp, Lycanthrope-200 damage for each normal monster in graveyard after inflicting battle damage, Darkblaze dragon-does damage equal to destroyed monsters attack,

Spells: Oozaki-800 damage, Meteor of Destruction-1000 damage(when lifepoints above 3000),

Traps: Just Desurts-500 damage per monster,ceasefire-500 per effect monster flipped face-up

Any other suggestions(obviously counter traps and cards to protect spells/traps woud be useful)on what to put in, as i am seriously considering making a deck like this if enough decent cards are available

Hmmm, yes, plenty of people have. They are called Burn Decks. =P

  • I'd say you need a more specific deck type. Although your idea is good (albeit not original), such a deck would not work well, giving only circumstantial wins. I recommend clarifiying your deck first. Like: "I need a deck that - destroys/returns to hand/removes from the game/returns to the top of the deck/sends to the grave - my opponent's monsters" or (more commonly) "I need a deck that deals damage to my opponent without me attacking him, but with effects of cards". That is the Burn Deck mentioned before. If you want to make a good burn deck, I have one ready - you can see it here. If you would rather focus on doing nasty things to your opponent's monsters, I suggest you also come up with a plan to deal damage. That can be done very effectively (in my humble opinion) in 1 way: Making a Discard/Burn deck - the goal of such a deck is to mess up your opponent's monsters while making him discard cards, and dealing damage to him for every card discarded. One such deck I will include some time now in my DeckZone, but here is a general idea (this is not a full deck, some cards only):
  • If such a deck is too expensive for you, or you just don't like it, you can use a Burn Deck like the one in my DeckZone. If you don't like that either, then describe the exact kind of deck you want, and I'll be glad to help. I just don't think a deck like the one you describe would do well against a lot of today's decks, if not against all. But that's my opinion.Darth Covah 19:55, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

To start off effect damage deck can lower your oppnets life points without even attacking, your oppent can block many battle damage delt to them, but effect damage can only be block by certain cards, like Hollow life barrier, and rainbow life.If you have consider making a effect damage deck you need cards like "life equalizer","Ceasfire".If you are plannng to win fast you should contain a gain/loss deck as well. For example gain/loss is when your opponet would gain life point due to a effect, but if you have "Bad reaction to simochi" your oppent losses life point if they had gain them, for example if you have Bad reaction to simochi and you were to active the spell card "Upstart goblin" you get to draw a card and instead of them gaining a 1000 life point they loss 1000 life points, another way for you to use this advantged is "Soul taker" you can destory one of your oppnets face up monster and then your oppenet gains 1000, but! due to Bad reaction of simochi your oppnet will loss 1000 just one of many combbos to think off.You may also consider blasting of the ruins to deal 3000 direct effect damges after 30 or more cards are in your grave yard,Well these are all of the moves i've consider if anything else PLEASE POST, Thanks!!!!!

                                                                 S.X.

Just use stuff like Stealth Bird, Marshmallon, Princess of Tsurugi, Des Koala, Nimble Musasabi, and Dark Snake Syndrome. D.S.S. will make them want to make a move and whenever they do, you can counter with burn damage for every card they have.--SantaOrc26 04:36, February 10, 2010 (UTC)

My Burn Deck...

Here it is:

It uses 3 Des Lacoodas for a draw engine.

Stealth Bird, Lava Golem, and the Raging Flame Sprite are your main "burners"!

Swarm of Locusts will keep your opponents back-row clear so your Raging Flame Sprite can attack safely.

Snipe Hunter can take advantage of extra and or non-needed cards in your hand.

Penguin Soldier has many uses in this deck.

Sangan can search for any monster you might need in the deck.

You can even summon Cannon Soldier to "burn off" Sangan and get the search effect!

Everything else is either more draw power or "stall" power.

Yes, this deck has weaknesses! Lots of them actually. I'm sure you can think of a few.

But, if your opponent does not main deck or side deck the needed cards... you are in good shape!

I find burn decks to be fun to use. This one is my own little creation and I am rather proud of it!
