Forum:First Duel Monster seen talking?

I have watched the Yugioh anime (I watched the later seasons around a decade ago), and I notice that Dark Magician Girl can actually talk, especially during the Orichalcos season.

However, I never really got into the earlier seasons, and I never seen any of the monsters talking. The monsters I knew that can talk are (in order):

  • Dark Magician Girl
  • The three Legendary Knights
  • Great Leviathan (Merged with Dartz, not related to Duel Monsters)
  • Dark Magician (Mahad)
  • Zorc Necrophades (Likely not related to the Duel Monsters, but probably related to Leviathan)
  • Creator of Light, Holactie

Also the Virtual World with the Big Five's Deck Masters. Plus Dark Magician Girl talked in Season 3, though it was more mental.--MasterMarik (talk • contribs) 11:21, July 1, 2017 (UTC)

The Legendary Heroes arc monsters don't count. Also, the main characters are wearing monster costumes.

It has to be a Duel Monster Spirit in its ordinary form, such as from a Duel. Spirits in Ka battles and other battles also count, as long as they maintain the ordinary appearance.

Note: I do not consider the Big Five's Deck Master monsters as talking monsters, but a special form of the Big Five. Therefore, Nightmare Penguin is Crump.

Then unless my highly encyclopedic memory has failed me (which is certainly possible), it would have been Dark Magician Girl in Season 4. Non-verbally, the first monster to convey its own will was the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, for those interested. Sanokal K-T (talk • contribs) 07:59, July 2, 2017 (UTC)
Do you count "Kuriboh" communicating with Yugi in the Virtual World Arc (choosing to be his Deck Master) or "Dark Magician Girl" supporting Tea? To my memory they were the only Deck Masters that had appeared to have consciousness and communicated (Excluding the Big Five). GoldenDragonRider (talk • contribs) 08:38, July 2, 2017 (UTC)
