We've seen the confirmed effect and the beast has a whole new attribute that renders it Honestable and gives it access to light support and slightly better synergy to light decks (imo). What I wanna know though is this: how does it stack up compared to its predecessor?

Or

Which do you think is better and why?

Personally, I think it wise to run both depending on what you're using. This is potential data for some decks I'm looking at building. Thanks in advance! --AlastorSilvervein (talkcontribs) 21:06, December 22, 2012 (UTC)

Also of note, unless I'm misinterpreting something the Duel Dragon Stardust is essentially indestructible because it can target itself with its own effect. Can still be Compulsed/D-Prisoned/Tiaramissued and whatnot, but indestructability is always nice, let alone LIGHT attribute. 108.196.206.15 (talk) 21:21, December 22, 2012 (UTC)
Well Flashing Carat Dragon - Stardust and Stardust can both protect themselves from destruction, but the difference is that Flashing will still stay on the field as a 2500 ATK monster, that's more useful then Stardust. On the other hand, Flashing can't protect you when the opponent uses a mass destruction card, and your limited to only saving 1 monster or face-up spell/trap, which will probably be Flashing itself. They both have uses, but if your tight on space, I'd use regular Stardust, if I had room to spare, I'd probably use both. --Dark Ace SP (Talk) 22:03, December 26, 2012 (UTC)

Not a fan of that art, but the effect is nice. I'd use both to be honest. I have had Stardust in my extra deck since I got him, and he is not moving out for the new comer, but this cards effect makes for a nice wall.

A few notes:
"Flashing Carat" can protect against destruction by battle, "Stardust Dragon" can't.
"Flashing Carat" don't do anything against the card that was going to destruct the other. "Stardust Dragon", however, negates the effect and destroy it.
"Stardust Dragon" is WIND, so it can be used with new supports from Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy, but there are much more LIGHT support, from Light of Destruction to Photon cards.
