Forum:Gadget Anti-meta - what should I take out?

Hy! My friends always played with full meta decks (GB, tele-DAD, Zombie, Alien, LS), and I tried to counter them with this very wicked way. But it is kinda slow and when I try to attack, they stopping me instantly with traps, and in the next turn, they destroy almost of my cards. Whats wrong with this deck? I know it's 50 cards, but what should I take out? Top deckers, please help! The Chazz 19:58, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

I think I counted 49 cards in the deck. Because Gadget decks generally aren't fast to begin with you probably want to run 40 cards (or 45 if running 5th Gadget). If you are running 5th Gadget (3 of each Gadget) I would take out Ultimate Offering, Trap Dustshoot, Mage Power, United We Stand to make it 45 cards. Since Gadgets don't have draw power what you want to do is find a way to thin the deck, so that you don't have to worry about drawing the cards you need. Thunder King Rai-Oh is great tech, but he doesn't fit this deck very well because he suppresses the Gadget's searching abilities, so replace him with 2x Giant Rat. Take out Cyber Dragon, Prime Material Dragon, and Mobius the Frost Monarch. I would probably side Mobius and PMD though.

Replace Jowgen the Spiritualist and Banisher of the Light with 2x Banisher of the Radiance. Replace Nobleman of Crossout with Shield Crush (personal preference). Also I'm not a huge fan of running Solemn Judgment at 1. To me it's a 0 or 3 card, so try to get your hands on 2 more if possible. I think another Royal Oppression would be helpful. Replace Hammer Shot with Lightning Vortex. I also think that a 2nd Book of Moon will help. I used to run a Gadget Oppression deck myself, but I found that it was too slow to run as a true Anti-Meta deck. Hopefully you will have better luck. Also try to give us a count of how many monsters, spells, and traps are in the deck because that will make it easier for us to help you. -- Sub 05:01, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

my friend runs a killer gadget deck and he helped me by explaining the principles and some key combos in a gadget deck when i made my short lived gadget deck which was this

3 kycoos

3 drilloids

3 of each gadget

2 fossil dynas

3 banisher of the radiance

3 e-cons

2 book of moons

2 lightning vortex

3 shrinks

2 soul takers

1 heavy storm

3 royal oppressions

3 solemns

3 dark bribes

2 karma cuts

the main ideas behind a gadget deck is to slow down play so much that your opponent can't OTK you straight away combined with using 2-3 card combos to deal with threats and then replacing the lost cards with your gadgets(so i will always say use 3 of each gadget if you can)

Thanks for the advices, really!

About Ultimate Offering, I think this is a devestating card for my deck, because with only 1 Gadget in my hand, I can summon 5 monsters in one turn. With ATK-buff cards, I wanted to compensate the low ATK of my monsters. Trap Dustshoot: I'm going foward to it, I remove the monster from his hand, before he can summon it. I also can foresight what technique will he use. Thunder King Rai-Oh: Well, I didn't ran such of a situation where I can't use my Gadgets because of this card, but true, I shouldn't put in 2 of it. I put Mobius and PMD because of Spell/Trap defense. I know, my opponents always smash me up with these. I think Cyber Dragon is the card that fits in every deck, even this. I get +1 field advantage, and a 2100 ATK monster on my field. Well, we can discuss very long, what is better, Shield Crush or Nobleman of Crossout, but I think I stay with the latter.

Can you post here your friends killer gadget deck? Yours is great too, but I'm curious to know what cards are in his deck exactly. By the way... what is e-con? I'm not american, so I can't understand these abbreviations so much. The Chazz 19:01, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
