Why is it that the Genex archetype never really caught on? It seems like they actually have decent effects, but they never became popular. Jon Kovacs (talkcontribs) 04:02, December 13, 2010 (UTC)

I'm actually going to try a combination of Genex and Machinas soon, but I'm not sure. I've never seen anyone play them before. Puzzling. =O Gearframe 04:17, December 13, 2010 (UTC)

I was looking at them, and I think they could be kind of like Scraps; that is, that they can be combo'd with other archetypes to make some really fun decks. Jon Kovacs (talkcontribs) 04:23, December 13, 2010 (UTC)
I'm looking at them, and it appears that they have really unfocused support. This is a problem.
  • Scraps have support based around getting key monsters to the graveyard, and them bringing them back.
  • Blackwings are all about getting monsters onto the field.
  • X-Sabers are a real swarm/control archetype. While not all of their support centers around getting monsters onto the field, enough of said support does that they are very good at swarming.
Now Genex is all over the place. You've got attack boosters, searchers, and some cards that just suck humongously. They are all types and attributes, they don't have a central direction, etc. THAT'S why no one uses Genex - they're no good at anything. Runer5h (talkcontribs) 20:42, December 13, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h
Umm... So here's the thing. I never mentioned X-Sabers, or Blackwings. Also, the only way I related Scraps to Genexes was the possibility to combine them with other archetypes... Jon Kovacs (talkcontribs) 03:01, December 14, 2010 (UTC)
No you didn't. I did, as examples of established archetypes that did something well. This was as a contrast with Genexes, which do NOTHING well. Runer5h (talkcontribs) 03:10, December 14, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h
They do nothing well on their OWN. Jon Kovacs (talkcontribs) 00:58, December 15, 2010 (UTC)
In response to your previous comment, Jon, I have never actually seen a really good Genex-based deck, except for maybe Genex Fish. Obviously this does not mean that such a deck does not necessarily exist, but I've got no examples that I can think of. Runer5h (talkcontribs) 01:08, December 15, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

Maybe someone could make a deck that abuses Vindikite R-Genex and that one other Genex nobody paid any attention to. Hmm... ShortCircuitFTW (talkcontribs) 01:14, December 15, 2010 (UTC)

If you could search out Genexes from your deck - you know, a la Reinforcement of the Army - maybe that idea would be going somewhere. But there is no such card. Runer5h (talkcontribs) 01:31, December 15, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

O rly? ShortCircuitFTW (talkcontribs) 01:57, December 15, 2010 (UTC)

Erm... I meant if Genex actually had a spell card that said "Add one Genex monster from your deck to your hand." I know they have plenty of monster-based searching, but it's all slower than a spell would be. Runer5h (talkcontribs) 02:59, December 15, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

I see where Runer is coming from. I am trying to build a Genex deck myself. Its darn near impossible. They honestly have no direction at all. The deck is so situational that you have little control over which cards you can synchro summon. Genex Neutron is pretty good but they do need their own ROTA or something to speed them up. Vindikite R-Genex is pretty good. Im probably going to use him as some sort of draw engine when i finish the deck, but since they lack so much s/t support, the deck would fail competitively.Trak0don (talkcontribs) 16:42, December 15, 2010 (UTC)

How about Alien Genexes? The point would be to use mostly Alien monsters, then use Genex Ally Triforce (synchro summoned with a light monster-Genex Neutron) to re-set your monsters from the graveyard, thus being able to re-use them for synchros, drawing, etc. 75.34.45.74 (talk) 15:22, December 18, 2010 (UTC)

I <3 genex

The only problems the genex have really is the LACK OF ANY GENEX SPECIFIC SUPPORT CARDS.also that many genex monsters arnt even machines if you wanna make a succesful genex deck try to use machine support to your advantage. throw is r genex Accelerator ,turbo ,overseer and ultimam. put vindikite and locomotor in your extra deck and 3 coppies of scroll of bewitchment. youl find that its a deck that can get moving quickly and be hard to stop when it gets some momentum.Kazisaki (talkcontribs) 20:04, December 29, 2010 (UTC)

New Support

The Sound Warriors are coming out... They will be able to change attribute, type and level. How's that for support? Jon Kovacs (talkcontribs) 18:57, January 2, 2011 (UTC)

Naw. They're all Tuners, and can only change each other. "Genex" Synchro Monsters require "Genex" Tuners. It's the non-Tuner material that needs to be WATER or DARK or FIRE. Zey do nothing.
