Forum:Ice Barrier/Stardust Synchro

This is an Ice Barrier-based deck with obvious effort to get Synchros out on the field when they can and, preferably, as soon as possible. Please let me know how to improve this deck. (Note: this deck has been edited)

Any help given on fixing up this deck would be greatly appreciated.

Lots of room for improvement. It appears that this Deck's trying a lot of different strategies with a lot of cards trying to handle different situations. Let's see what we can remove in order to reduce the card count to as close to 40 as possible:

  • Steel Shell - Usually Equip Spells are run if they do more than a simple ATK/DEF boost. United We Stand and Mage Power are exceptions since they give much larger boosts than what Steel Shell does.
  • Wetlands and Terraforming - These are usually best used in a Deck that's built around it. Like Frogs, or a Cryomancer of the Ice Barrier and Dewdark of the Ice Barrier combo. Remove Wetlands, and without a Field Spell to search for, Terraforming should follow.
  • Atlantean Pikeman - Not a very good addition to the Deck. Aside from being fodder for Synchro, but there are better choices to consider.
  • Metal Reflect Slime - I understand, it's a good wall. But with the Deck built around Synchro Summons, MRS is usually too blocky to use effectively for Synchro Summons.
  • Water Spirit - There're better WATER Tuners out there. Like Fishborg Archer and the like.
  • Synchronized Realm - Ice Barriers are a slow archetype, designed to control the game tempo rather than explode all across the field with multiple Synchro Summons. Synchronized Realm would not be used to its full value here, and even faster Decks which Synchro many times per turn don't use it.
  • Caravan of the Ice Barrier - Kinda slow for monster recycling, and you'll help the opponent by giving them some draw power. Better off using Salvage and/or Aquamirror Cycle.

That's just some of the cards you can afford to remove. Don't forget to put in more copies of the cards that assist your strategy. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 05:18, September 15, 2013 (UTC)

I've made some edits to my deck and I've finally managed to root out the confusion I was having. My premise was that I had to have Life Stream Dragon in order to get Shooting Quasar Dragon out on the field, but I learned that having Formula Synchron and two level 5 Synchro Monsters is much easier. The overall number of cards has dropped by 10.

Is my deck any better? How else can I improve this deck?
