Forum:MiqAbrannon's Burn Deck

So far this deck has been running fine. Plenty of defenses, Card Searching, Effect Recycling, and the ability to get rid of nuisance-some cards that are out on the field. The deck can hold out for a long duration of time due to having a lot of cards that work independently allowing me to build up massive burn damage.

My only thoughts are, are that this deck is balanced, but a little on the large side (Being that it is at it's max capacity. Also I'm not sure how well my deck would do up against other decks. So far it is almost impossible for my friends to take down this deck (As in they never have). I'm just worried about other advanced players. I doubt my deck is fully secure with max counter measures against specific deck styles. I am not sure if any of you have any opinions on whether I should slim down my deck and how. Also if any of you want to make adjustments of replacing cards out for others. Any recommendations will be noted and appreciated, thank you all.

With all that said let me run you through the concept of my deck so you can understand my thoughts.

  • Earthbound Immortal Aslla Piscu - This card is not a necessity, but it is a hell of a burn card. It is able to hit direct damage with 2,500 attack points and with Ancient Forest, Asllas Piscu will go down taking all my opponents monsters with it in a single blow. (up to 6,500 damage in a single turn)
  • Inaba White Rabbit - One of my favorites, it is any annoying little card that is fairly hard to get rid of. I equip Sword of Deep-Seated to increase it's attack up to 1,200. This is also a good card against counter burn decks being that it is battle damage. (possible 1,200 attack per turn)
  • Mist Valley Falcon - 2,000 attack, it allows me to return a card on my side of the field, but at the cost of attacking. I can re-use burn monsters with this card. Also I can return cards that have been equipped with pesky equip cards by my opponent. (Also I can make Ancient Forest's effect one-sided)
  • Swarm of Locusts - Destroys 1 trap or spell card my opponent controls once per turn. So I just get rid of cards on the field.
  • Swarm of Scarabs - Destroys 1 monster card my opponent controls once per turn. Now I can get rid of the rest of the cards on my my opponents field.
  • Lava Golem - Probably the greatest card against counter burn decks. Can get rid of the nuisance Prime Material Dragon and Des Wombat to continue on with my burns while doing burn damage itself. (1,000 damage per turn)
  • Amazoness Swords Woman - Another unstoppable burn card and most likely my favorite. Counter burn decks can't even stop this card being that the damage done is battle damage.
  • Princess of Tsurugi - A powerful burn card and simply another monster out on the field. (up to 2,500 points of damage)
  • Blast Sphere - A powerful defensive monster. This card I believe also fights off Mystic Swordsman seeing as how this card doesn't need to be flipped to have it's effect activate, just simply attacked while face-down. (Does burn damage equal to the monster that attacked it, also destroys the monster that attacked it)
  • Infected Mail - An exceedingly helpful burn support card. As soon as I dangerously flip a flip-effect monster such as Princess of Tsurugi or Mask of Darkness leaving their low attack vulnerable, I can deal direct battle damage whilst getting rid of that vulnerable spot. Should help well against counter burn decks.
  • Book of Eclipse - It works just like negate attack, or placing a monster in defense where they are more vulnerable. Also the main purpose of this card is for me to be able to re-use burn monsters.
  • Darkworld Shackles - Lowers a monster attack and defense down to 100, making them more vulnerable to massive dame while being able to remove a pesky card. Also it does 500 points of damage per tun while the equipped monster can't attack or change battle position.
  • Thunder Short - Simply a decent burn card (up to 2,000 points of damage)
  • Gold Sarcophagus - The most useful card in the game, it is like heart of the cards in a single card.
  • Ceasefire - The most powerful easy to use burn card there is. (up to 5,000 points of damage in a single turn even though it is unlikely. More accurate estimate is an easy 2,000 to 3,000 range)
  • Magical Arm Shield - I really don't know why I have this card in my deck. It's kinda useful but a bit hard to use. It can either destroy an opponents card at the cost of your life points or destroy an opponents monster while inflicting battle damage to them. Its not that useful a card but it kinda works against counter burn decks.
  • Magic Cylinder - Deals damage whilst protecting me, pretty much the main concept of my deck.
  • Zoma the Spirit - Technically it is another monster with an amazing burn defense. This card inflicts damage equal to the attack of the monster that destroyed it. This is an excellent defense.
  • Dimension Wall - It's similar to Magic Cylinder, but it inflicts battle damage to my opponent sometimes at the cost of a monster. It's battle damage though so it's perfect against counter burn decks.
  • Secret Barrel - A useful burn card ( effect damage varies drastically, you have to be very patient to build up a strong hit)
  • Rainbow Life - A complete counter measure to life point depletion for an entire turn. Also on top of that, I gain those points instead of losing.

--> So this is my deck an my ideas. With everything out there, its time for suggestions. Also this deck is poor against negating traps and spells, but currently I haven't had too much of an issue with it.

Also I use to use Reflect Bounder and Magical Reflect Slime but they never really helped me much. Nobody was ever dumb enough to attack Reflect Bounder, and a double summon requirement for Magical Reflect Slime proved to be a burden. Never used Stealth Bird, took it out of my deck before I ever used it.

Thanks everyone.

With 3 eclipses I'd suggest either reckless useage of "Grave Ohja" (flipping things down before he's summoned and using your allowed flip summons that turn to give slight burn...plus he sorta kinda stalls...and with both loucust and scarabs then you can do it over and over) or "Greed".

Another point with "Greed" I really don't think you need 3 Gold Sarcophagus' so maybe a "Card Destruction" would help that burn further for quite a bit.

3 Deserts is silly. If it's such a big deal with infected mail to avoid risky battles then try "Chaos Burst" for a try.

With the latest format allowing 3 MST and "Heavy Storm" it may help to use "Judgment of Anubis".

If you are going to sort of rely on Deserts and "Thunder Shoot" you could test out "Gyaku-Gire Panda" for infected mail shenanagins but it's not advised.

Also so many tend to get fattened up extra decks now and days, so again for emphasis on infected mail use "Memory Crusher" for unexpected damage.

One more thing, using that many shackles is risky, toss in "Curse of the Circle" if you ever get a chance to prevent that being wasteful.

I could give more obvious suggestions (example "add Marshmallon") but I take it others will do that and you are not trying to make a chain burn deck as far as I know so eh. I have no sig to put because I ain't a member so foiget it.

^ ^ ^ Wow you're definitely amazing, I never heard of Chaos Burst or Greed. Greed can do a lot of damage but it's a shame that this deck doesn't do much stall. Getting Greed going along with Morphing Jar 2 could might as well end a duel if I'm lucky so I'll have to think about that. As for Chaos Burst, it is a must have. Thanks a lot for making me aware of these cards. I check through the lists non-stop and I can't believe I could miss such effective cards. Thanks a lot and keep the suggestions going! =)

=o you actually liked those suggestions? Here's some more then lol.

Since this is a burn deck, if you get out your earthbound then give it "Brutal Potion" to really bring the pain.

If you incorporate "Greed" then due to your lack of spell and trap negation "Dark Bribe" can still lead to something.

If you got enough facedown monsters and your opponent wants to battle (possibly to prevent tributes for the earthbound should they know you have it) then you can add in "Call of the Earthbound" to make use of "Reflect Bounder" in that deck or at least force battle with your amazon. Oh and btw you can activate "Honest" after the damage is dealt from bounder so you can again get alot of damamge.

With 3 copies of "Lava Golem" and considering attacking isn't required for you to win you can use "Clear World" to inflict ALOT of damamge quickly each turn. And speaking of the golem...with "Volcanic Queen" if your opponent tries to damamge you then you can use "Rainbow Life" as a sneaky turn around (plus less tributes are needed so it's easier to get out.)

Attacking directly is not the same thing as dealing burn damage. BF2 Talk Deck Guides 13:02, October 21, 2011 (UTC)

Eh well technically speaking it's just making use of the conditions and the overall start...again this doesn't seem like a chain burn deck with all these flips and golem so no suggestions for that (plus memory crusher IS effect damamge) if you don't want to agree, remove the part about direct effects in the burn deck page. Sarcastic insult, that princess used to say it's effect does direct damage bro.

  • Anywhoo back to some final suggestions.

"Genex Ally Bellflame" considering you ignore the guy above me...can gain some decent counters with your semi scuicide strat.

"Shuttleroid" gives some stall though it may be like how reflect is for you and they don't try to attack it eh.

Since you have a decent number of dark monsters that are best set then maybe one "Dark Eruption". To replace shallow because that's a bit of a risk...or less eclipe. I bet the op won't even looky here anyways.

hmmm... Brutal Potion would be useful, but I pretty much suicide all my monsters XD. I have Dark Bribes, but I can't negate every single spell or trap my opponent activates. Its hard to know when to risk a negate when you barely have any to spare in the duel and Dark Bribe might get to me late. Earlier Judgment of Anubis was a good suggestion for a negate as to protect my traps and spells. Reflect Bounder is still a no for me. It's a good defense, but duelists only end up destroying it with either spell, traps, or monster effect to get around it. Clear World is a good thought since I force fire monsters on my opponent, the only thing is, is that they would only be taking 500 more damage then I am. Volcanic Queen was a hard choice for me. I like how its a tribute your opponent monster like Lava Golem, but there are too many negatives towards me. I'm fine with destroying a 1 card I control, but I'm not so keen on tributing a monster as well to save myself. I'm already fueling Infected Mail, Volcanic Queen just takes too much from me I believe.

Also I know attacking directly isn't burn damage, that is my entire point of adding cards that do such, to get around counter burn decks.

Card Tips:Memory Crusher was a nice idea especially since I use Infected Mail, but lots of duelists I play don't even have Extra Decks, such as myself. Genex Ally Bellflame is something to consider, but I would have to keep the card up on the field for a while before I can build up a considerable amount off damage. It most likely will be destroyed before I can build up on it's effect. A Shuttleroid is great, but it would only end up like my Reflect Bounders. They ended up not being as useful as I thought with no one wanting to attack them. I could use Call of the Earthbound as mention earlier, but I hate incorporating a lot of cards that rely on others Earthbound Immortal Aslla Piscu is pretty mush my only dependent card, needing Ancient Forest to be up and running, but If I get the opportunity then the winnings I reap will be great. Dark Eruption would be great if Amazoness Swords Woman was dark as well, but unfortunately she isn't. I would be limiting my re-usage ability.

I am currently thinking on replacing Magical Arm Shield with Bad Reaction to Simochi to prevent my opponent from healing. With that maybe I could add some beneficial cards with it, but as I said before. I'm not a big fan on dependent cards.

Gift Card could do some really heavy damage, but would be really dependent on Bad Reaction.

Soul Taker can be independent, might be useful, same for Upstart Goblin

I'm rethinking Greed again, there are plenty of people that use Card Destruction and Morphing Jar (myself). It could end up hurting me, Book of Eclipse as said earlier is the only great assault I would have going for it.

Or know what, what do you guys think on this idea. I can add a Magical Hats to re-use flip-effects. Also with Magical Hats I can add Meteor Flare. I can draw out both Meteor Flare and Sword of Deep-Seated out with Magical Hats while being able to re-use a flip-effect.
