Non Aggression Area says "Your opponent cannot Normal Summon, Set and/or Special Summon during his/her next turn." It doesn't specify which Set, so can your opponent not set spells/traps either? Zeek Aran 14:47, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

● I believe that it means that the opponent(s) of whomever activates this trap card can NOT summon, set, special summon monsters. They can however use CotH &/or Premature Burial this turn (Presuming Premature was set before the actvation of NAA. and Call of the Hunted IS banned). The card only refers to Monsters, your opponent can still set spells/traps

It means only monsters. You can still set Spells/Traps.

I'm not sure what the previous poster meant by "Premature Burial", but "Non-Aggression Area" prevents it from being activated. It is ruled that if you activate "Non-Aggression Area", then during your turn, your opponent can still Special Summon monsters (since "Non-Aggression Area" only applies to your opponent's turn). --Deus Ex Machina 20:12, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

So in a tournament, the judges would say, "It means only monster." ? Zeek Aran 21:11, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Right. --Deus Ex Machina 21:36, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

My trig. teacher is still arguing with me about this. There are no official rulings on this, and the exact word Set is used to describe both spells/traps/monsters. The school computers block this site, and I'm not sure he'd say random online people are good sources. What can I do besides not play him/Royal Decree? Zeek Aran 21:06, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Your trig teacher? Wow, you have cool teachers.

In the text, "Set" is used between "Normal Summon" and "Special Summon". Since Normal Summon and Special Summon only apply to monsters, it is implied that "Set" only applies to monsters. Otherwise, the text would be "Your opponent cannot Normal Summon {monsters}, Set {cards} and/or Special Summon {monsters} during his/her next turn." This wording is kind of awkward, so it's unlikely.

How about saying that, according to online consensus, it only applies to monsters?

Then there's "Dark Simorgh", which prevents Sets of any kind, and it specifies "any cards". "Non Aggression Area" doesn't.

Or, you could show him the Japanese text, which doesn't mention "Set" 「セット」 in any way. Run it through Babelfish, and you'll see the word Set never mentioned. The Japanese text:

自分のスタンバイフェイズに発動する事が出来る。 手札からカードを1枚捨てる。相手は次の相手ターンに通常召喚・特殊召喚ができない。

(The text only says "Normal Summon", and it's used in the sense of "You get 1 Normal Summon per turn", which automatically means "Normal Summon or Set {monsters}".)

Then there's how I got four counter-arguments against his one, which give you more weight. :P

--Deus Ex Machina 21:46, 25 April 2008 (UTC), who now has five counter-arguments!

Never even thought of looking at the Japanese text. You guys really amuse me. XD And, THANKS! Zeek Aran 01:58, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
