Forum:Obelisk XYZ Deck

Honestly, it looks like you have too many cards. Is there anyway you can cut the deck down to 40ish cards? Also, a really easy way to get 3 tributes is to use Obedience Schooled, then tribute summon a god, I've done it on occasion with Slifer. --Dark Ace SP (Talk) 21:20, June 5, 2014 (UTC)

I kind of like to play with larger decks. Maybe having the maximum is too much, but I wanna be ready for lots of things. I try to have a reason for the cards I put into this deck. well for 1, its 60 friggin cards, so that will make Getting Obelisk hard, since there are literally 4 cards in that deck that can search it. second, the Rank up spells really shouldn't be around in a deck dedicated to summoning a God. They would just get in the way more then anything, If you insist on keeping them, you should cut them down.......alot. you have 4 RUMs but 7 (8 if you count 99) rank up monsters to summon, you don't need 3 ARKS or DARK, DARK is a pain to kill anyway. that entire extra deck needs reworking since without a RUM you have literally 3 monsters to work with. if this is an "Obelisk deck" you should remove basically all teh xyzs and RUM support you got there, as is this is a poorly built RUM deck ft. Obelisk. the best part of an Extra deck is that you can pull whatever you need whenever so running 3 of everything is basically the worst thing you can do as it robs you of options. LOTs of options (sole exception, if you NEED 3 of it........there is little that NEEDS 3 of anything in the extra deck. most players run 1 ARK and 0 Utopias)

If you don't have a God availible to summon, your Extra deck is essentially your fallback so you don't get overrun, since you will have trouble dropping 2 lv 4s as is, ......i imagine you don't win with this deck much....

Also note Photon Sanc is 100% useless right there, you can't use those tokens for anything, they can't attack and can't be tributed for Obelisk, so thats an entire waste of a card.

Add another Mound of the bound creator, and 3 MSTs to blow them up with so you can search obelisk whenever, Obelisk is already untargetable so he doesn't benefit as much from it anyway. also, 1 terrraforming and 2 fields is almost pointless.

The Dark Door sucks, you should have nothing to stall for anyway. DD capsule is just MST bait, use that and you just wasted a card more often then not. gold sarc is better but if you are searching obelisk you wanna do the Mound/MST combo to grab him. Stray lambs suck too, there are better ways to get fast tribute fodder for obelisk.

Having made many different versions of a God deck to find what works best, I can speak from experience when i say this. Ra's disciple simply isn't worth it if you can use Pendulums instead. you CAN use him anyway if you want (pendulum him to trigger effect too) but i find i simply don't need him alot of times. Go pendulums, get scales, get 2 pendulums and another monster. summon God, pendulum summon the pendulums back next turn for essentially a free cost for his effect too. if you don't want to use pendulums, then i would direct you to the "TRI-GOD DECK" decklist on the Egyptian God page as a good idea of what you want. I built that exact deck to see if it worked. I won via Horakty, so you can easily alter that into something more Obelisk focused.

For my Wicked God deck I used a Zombie engine. this allows easy access to rank 4 xyzs if you REALLY wanna keep running them and combined with the Gogogo series makes gathering fodder easy. Special Zombie Master with mezuki, call of the mummy or Book of life, use him to summon Gogogo Ghost, who then summons Gogogo Golem. Bam, Bow before your God of choice.

I'm not much of an expert on deck building. I just wanted to try something that's unheard of. It's not that I don't like the advice. It's just that I haven't tried out my deck and haven't played for long to know what will work well. Daredfox (talk • contribs) 21:58, June 5, 2014 (UTC)

As i mentioned, the Egyptian God page has sample decklists you can use as a guideline.

That is one of the versions I made and what I find works best. But if you are really dead set on including xyzs eith RUMs I would go with the Zombie/gogogo combo I mentioned, Zombie masters, Mezukis, the Gogogo monsters (2 Giant, 3 ghost, 2 golem, 1 Gigas) and in teh case of the wicked Gods, Double coston. but he doesn't work for Obelisk. Lavalal Chain sets God on top of deck and send mezuki or Golem to grave. Pyrimid turtles to grab ZM, I don't use RUMs in it as they can get in the way too easily. go with the largest variety of rank 4s i can when dropping a God isn't an option or solution. Corrupted Keys makes easy Tribute fodder too.DreadKaiser (talk • contribs) 22:57, June 5, 2014 (UTC)
