"This monster can take on the ATK and DEF of 1 opponent's monster on the field (a face-down monster results in an ATK and DEF of 0). Treat the selected monster as an Equip Magic Card and use it to equip ""Relinquished"". You may use this effect only once per turn and can equip ""Relinquished"" with only 1 monster at a time. When your opponent's monster attacks this monster with an ATK higher than ""Relinquished"", the equipped monster is destroyed instead of ""Relinquished"". Any Life Point damage you receive from the attacking monster when ""Relinquished"" is equipped is also inflicted on your opponent."

So I can equip ANY spell card to Relinquished and get that last effect? The new one says when a monster is equipped to it, this one says if its just "equipped"

  • Let me explain something. When a new version of a card is released, you go by what the newest card says (sometimes there are exceptions, but that's rare). So in this case, only when it's equipped with a monster through its own effect. Bluedog 03:24, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Where does it officially say that you have to go by the new cards effect?

  • Nowhere, but it's a common sense thing. Bluedog 03:28, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Hmm, I am not really sure what to actually trust then because my friend says that you can just show the card to a judge and he will accept the differences.

Think of it this way; from the TCG version of Fury from the Deep Structure Deck had Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo-Daedalus as its featured card. However, it was heavily misprinted as it missed, "This card cannot be normal summoned or set. this card can only be special summoned by tributing Levia-Dragon - Neo-Daedalus." Not many know this so therefore, they tend to tribute summon it by tributing 2 monsters, instead of special summoning. My point is, they made the reprints for a reason, and that is to clear up any broken rulings and/or cheap tactics. Its best to go with the new relinquished.

Im sorry if I may interject, but another card that was reprinted was skull lair. the original from the labrynth of nightmare says by sending any number of cards in the grave from play destroy one monster equal to the number of cards removed. In dark beginning 2 it was changed so it might not have been so cheep to just any number of monsters in the grave removed. I thought that I might point that out. • And another one if I may include is that the card Spell Shield Type-8 the old card says that you can send 1 card to negate the activation of a spell card and destroy it while now it says that you can discard 1 spell card as the cost because if that wouldn't have changed I think that it will replace Magic Jammer and even be more powerful than it would, back then...and most likely to be ban.(Firebender007 sept. 4 2008)
