Controller VS Owner problems Ceruli Guru of DarkWorld
Ive been casual dueling lately, trying to up date my DarkWorld deck(DWD) to keep up with the advance format for local shop tournaments.
More often than not I have faced opponents with 2 or more different problems regarding Ceruli Guru of DarkWorld when ever I play it by its effect the most common ones are.
1)Discarding by effect options: half the players I face with this problem obviously do not understand the cards text logic of Ceruli, while the other half tend to up hold an excuse that the card must be discarded by a dark world card and similar excuses along those lines.
2)Discarding Controllers: when Ceruli is on their field they often tend to discard a card from their hand in which case I am constantly trying to explain that it is me the Owner of the card not the controller logic.
3)Selecting who and how: This might be the most problematical scenario of Ceruli and often found on veterans and casual players a like so I want to focus on this problem the questions for this third problem are:
* Who selects the card to be discarded Owner or Controller? * If it is the controller, then is it at random, or should the hand of the owner be seen by the controller? * If it is the owner, then can he select and choose knowingly or is it at random?
I have been in more forums than I can count trying to look for answers to these problems but more often than not find solutions regarding the first and second problem only and not the third one.
To my understanding I am the one to both select and choose knowingly the card to be discarded by Ceruli's effect, do to the fact that the second effect activates separately on a new chain and the activation is considered to be the controllers doing, and the opponent of the controller wish is the owner is to select and choose the card. do to the fact that Ceruli does not specify how it should be discarded. am i wrong? feel free to correct me on this third problem. ````
