Forum:Peten vs. Norleras

I don't understand how the effect of "Sky Scourge Norleras" doesn't cancel out the effect of "Peten the Dark Clown". According to the Rulings page, the effect of sending cards to the Graveyard and the effect of drawing happen simultaneously, yet the card says to send all the cards to the Graveyard, "then" draw 1 card.

On the other hand, "Light and Darkness Dragon's" effect that would destroy "Peten the Dark Clown" does not include the word "then", yet it does prevent "Peten the Dark Clown's" effect. Based on the implications within the specifications in the text on both cards, I would say this should be the other way around; "Sky Scourge Norleras" should prevent "Peten the Dark Clown's" effect, while "Light and Darkness Dragon" shouldn't. if the rulings say that those effects happen simultaneously then they do so. And then there is no reason why peten should miss the timing.

I'm not sure why you think that LaDD shouldn't prevent its effect. LaDD negates effects, the only effect of peten activates when he is sent to the grave. So he simply negates it, no questions asked... -dest- (talkcontribs) 17:47, August 10, 2010 (UTC)

Always follow the rulings, card's lores sometimes tend to get corrupted during the translation from Japanese to English. PS: RedDrgn was referring to LADD's third effect (bomb your own field with Peten then summon a monster from the Graveyard).--151.51.9.69 (talk) 18:49, August 10, 2010 (UTC)

"Sky Scourge Norleras" is poorly worded - they included "then" so that people wouldn't think that the card they draw is also sent to the Graveyard.
Regardless, pretty much every effect with more than one part needs a ruling on whether or not the parts are simultaneous. --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 02:43, August 11, 2010 (UTC)
