Forum:Red-Eyes/Dragon Revival Deck

Hi there, I'm new on here, but I was hoping I could get some advice on my Dragon deck.
The deck itself is monster-heavy, with plenty of high-level Dragons, and cards such as Trade-In, and Decoy Dragon to get them out of my Graveyard after using Foolish Burial etc.
The main cards of my deck are Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon and Blue-Eyes; Darkness is great as to summon it I have to put a Red-Eyes into my Grave anyway, which I can summon back up quickly with The Creator.
I've put in plenty of deck-search to effectively shrink the number of cards in my deck, and also I love the Cyberdarks. I've got all three now and the dragon, which works really well if I happen to have Five-Headed Dragon in my Graveyard! Both Masked Dragon and Twin-Headed Behemoth, apart from being great as individual cards, are perfect for equipping to the Cyberdarks, and the Hunter Dragon is the best one possible.
Essentialy, my strategy is to get Dragons in my Graveyard, and then summon Darkness. Darkness has no problem reaching 6000 without even trying, but this is reflective of the sheer amount of cards in my deck. I'd like to cut it down, but without sacrificing my favourite Dragon cards... Depending on which cards I draw, I can shift my strategy to suit.

There's been a few changes, but I'm not sure yet if it's reaching its full potential...

Here's the Deck List:

Total Cards = 50 +2
Monster Cards (29)
2x Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon
3x Red-Eyes B. Dragon (I somehow managed to get hold of a secret-rare one oO)
1x Red-Eyes B. Chick
3x Blue-Eyes White Dragon
2x White-Horned Dragon
1x Tyrant Dragon
2x The Creator
3x Decoy Dragon (I finally have three!)
2x Cyberdark Edge
2x Cyberdark Horn
2x Cyberdark Keel
1x Mirage Dragon
1x Twin-Headed Behemoth
3x Masked Dragon
1x Hunter Dragon (For Cyberdarks)
Spell Cards (17)
3x Trade-In
1x Foolish Burial
2x Summoner's Art
1x Ancient Rules
1x Monster Reborn
1x Premature Burial
1x Swords of Revealing Light
1x Heavy Storm
1x Lightning Vortex
1x Mausoleum of the Emperor
1x Power Bond (For Cyberdark Dragon - I only take 1000 damage!)
1x Future Fusion (If I draw it, I can focus on Fusion Summoning Five-Headed Dragon...)
1x Card of Safe Return
1x Lighten the Load (Works well, as if I'm not ready for a big Dragon yet I can swap it for a useful draw...)
Trap Cards (4)
1x Sakuretsu Armor
1x Magic Cylinder
1x Torrential Tribute
1x Raigeki Break
Fusion Deck (2)
1x Five-Headed Dragon
1x Cyberdark Dragon

Help on this deck would be appreciated. I've spent ages building it but there are a few cards that I would consider taking out anyway. Thanks for your time.

  • Well first of I would say take out Ultimate Offering, Metalmorph, and Ordeal of a Traveler and add Scapegoat, one more Foolish Burial, and one more Trade-In, also take out Polymerization, and put in Future Fusion, try taking out Lighten the Load and add Dragon's Mirror. Hope that helps :) -- Dragon of chaos 17:49, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
  • You need Shrink and Reasoning. Shrink is effective in any deck relying on good power. Reasoning will help thin your deck and has a high percentage chance you'll be able to summon. And if it the opponent calls right, well, you have a dragon in the graveyard, which you constantly want in this deck. Most of your traps are from the lineup in Rise of Dragon Lords. (And yes, your deck has clear relation to it if you look at the general plot). Remove Draining Shield, Magic Drain, and Waboku for starters. Add a Mirror Force if you have one. If not, try Torrential Tribute. Add one more Lightning Vortex. You'll need one extra Creator too. Chris427 19:11, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice so far guys, I've got a few good ideas and I'll see what I can do. And Chris, I can see what you mean with me Special Summoning from the Grave 'n' all, it is kind of similar to SDRL, I apologise for snapping off like that.. Hmm, looking at the restricted list, it appears I'm only allowed one Twin-Headed Behemoth, so I'd better take that out as I'm planning on going to Tournaments... Corrie1 19:36, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

  • I just want to stress that you will need 3 Reasoning and 3 Shrink. Chris427 22:13, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Right. Well I don't have any Reasonings at the moment, but I'll try and get hold of them as they're decent. And Shrink is so damn hard to get hold of x] I'm lucky I have one!

Assuming I get hold of those cards, would you suggest Mirage Dragon in place of Spear Dragon or something? Perhaps I could try for Lord of D. with The Flute of Summoning Dragon... Corrie1 22:16, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

  • It's a good idea. Mirage Dragon has more use than Spear Dragon. Lord of D. and Flute of Summoning is, in my opinion, sort of a waste of space. Have you considered Mausoleum of the Emperor? Also a few must-needs (without question): Premature Burial and Heavy Storm. I'm pretty sure you know these cards. They should be in most decks. Chris427 22:45, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
