The other day I played someone who set a "Masked Dragon" and a trap card. I attacked the Dragon, and he flipped the trap, which I can't remember off the top of my head (it sent monsters from the top of deck to the graveyard based on what level the attacking monster was. May have been a custom). He then went on to use Dragon's effect. When I told him he missed the timing he said he chained to Dragon's effect. Does it work like that? - I think he may have been right, I'm not exactly sure though. It honestly depends on the trap. If he responded to the attack and Masked Dragon had not been destroyed yet, I think he could still use MD's effect. But then again I'm not really sure. :\ Dmaster (Contribs • Count) 23:09, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
Can't use a normal trap in the damage step unless it changes ATK or DEF. It doesn't sound like it, so he couldn't have used it "chained to Dragon's effect" like he said. He had to use it in chain to the attack declaration. I don't see why it would matter though. If he wanted a monster from his deck, why chain a trap that removes cards from the deck to the graveyard before he gets his dragon's effect? Zeek Aran 03:37, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
