Forum:Several Questions

Hey, so I got a few questions after some dueling yesterday. Decided to make a list while we played, since we're both relatively new and don't know all the various rulings.

1. I attacked my opponent with an Elemental Hero, can't remember which, Skyscraper was active on the field and my monster's attack was raised by 1000. After I declare an attack my opponent plays the card Magic Cylinder. Question is.. Do I take damage equal to the monster's original ATK or combined with the extra 1000?

2. My opponent uses the trap card Compulsory Evacuation Device on a Fusion monster I control, but obviously the card can't come to my hand right? Do I just have to return it to the Fusion deck?

3. Does Draining Shield target the opponent's monster or does it work more like Negate Attack? Actually for that matter does Negate Attack target?

4. I play the card H - Heated Heart, does it immediately go to the graveyard after it's effects are applied? In a way it seems like it's a one-turn equip card but I don't know if I'm supposed to throw it to the graveyard immediately after I use it or at the end of that turn.

5. My opponent Flip Summons Swarm of Locusts and targets my only set trap card, which I chain to the flip effect, it's Trap Hole. This is how I think it should go: The effect of Trap Hole resolves and destroys Swarm of Locusts, and now even if the flip effect resolves there is no target for it, since Trap Hole has since moved. Firstly, am I correct that this is how it'd work? And second, if another set card was targeted by Swarm of Locusts, would the effect still resolve even though it is now in the graveyard?

Several Responses

• 1. I'd say you would receive as damage the current ATK of your monster at the time Magic Cylinder was activated - which means with the extra 1000 points.
• 2. The Fusion Monster returns to the Extra Deck (just a new name for the Fusion Deck, don't panic).
• 3. Both Draining Shield and Negate Attack target.
• 4. After H - Heated Heart resolves, it is sent to the graveyard, like most Normal Spell Cards.
• 5. Swarm of Locusts' effect will resolve as normal even though it is destroyed by Trap Hole, since its effect has already been activated (that wouldn't be the case with a card like Divine Wrath though, as it negates the effect altogether). If you targeted a set card other than the set Trap Hole, it would be destroyed.

Actually, "Skyscraper"'s effect applies during Damage Calculation only. Since you're not calculation damage yet, you don't include the +1000 ATK. --Deus Ex Machina 20:38, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
