Read all about it, folks. This means no DVD for Bonds Beyond Time (honestly, someone's gonna sub it someday, anyway) and the dubs for GX Season 4, 5D's, and ZEXAL are up in the air. I don't think it will affect the card game, though. Just the anime. Thoughts? Fluffiness (talkcontribs) 22:30, March 29, 2011 (UTC)

Indeed, 4Kids had nothing to do with cards. The cards fixing was all of UDE/Konami's responsible. But the DVD will still release, since it's already released in THEATER. --FredCat 23:15, March 29, 2011 (UTC)
perhaps funimation will pick up the slack and do things right. either that or tv tokyo will just open up a us division and start producing the dubs themselves, much in the same way as konami took over US distribution of the tcg.

Oh, that's an idea. --FredCat 23:57, March 29, 2011 (UTC)
4kids conspired with funimation on this. I'm sure they aren't in good standings with Konami either right now.--Helix-king (talkcontribs) 02:43, March 30, 2011 (UTC)
my understanding of the situation as it has been documented leads me to believe that funimation may not have been aware of the backdoor deals 4kids was trying to make. if funimation plays dumb to this, they have a good shot at getting the rights to all the shows 4kids had. and as long as they learn from the mistakes 4kids made, funimation should be able to keep those distro rights, unlike 4kids.

Macroman2011 (talkcontribs) 03:16, March 30, 2011 (UTC)

And here, I thought 4Kids might actually do a less egregious job when the time comes to dub Zexal. Well, I hope the company that substitutes them (if any) would do a better job. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 03:03, March 30, 2011 (UTC)

Well so much for the movie being released on DVD. Serves 4 Kids Right! Irohanihoheto (talkcontribs) 03:08, March 30, 2011 (UTC)

Sigh...

Guess I'm never gonna get to see the movie then.

...sigh... (and here I was hoping that 4kids would finally be able to do GX season 4, too) Karkashan (talkcontribs) 04:17, March 30, 2011 (UTC)

Anyone up for starting the TV Tokyo and Nihon Ad Systems v. 4Kids Entertainment article? As for the case itself, I desperately hope that the backdoor deal allegation with Funimation isn't true; I hold Funi in too high esteem. =/ On the other hand, there's no way such popular series as Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! are going to be left hanging; it'll be interesting seeing how the new licensors handle the series (even if said licensors are just a new U.S. division of TV Tokyo). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 07:30, March 30, 2011 (UTC)

Ooh, I like the idea of having an article for that. There's always a possibility that NAS may raise their price and sell the rights back to 4Kids while keeping tabs on them. I sincerely hope not though. Regardless, someone's going to pick it up once the case is over. ZEXAL may actually get an accurate dub. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 17:22, March 30, 2011 (UTC)
  • If a new company does get the rights to the series, it may also be possible that we could get a re-dub of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, since it was undoubtedly the most popular series of the franchise. Maybe even a HD remake (unlikely as it sounds). That would be fantastic.--YamiWheeler (talkcontribs) 17:50, March 30, 2011 (UTC)
We actually also need an article for the much older Konami v. Upper Deck Entertainment fiasco (unless we already have one somewhere around here under some weird name...). Here are the related dockets I could find (though I didn't really look all that hard), for anyone interested. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 01:12, March 31, 2011 (UTC)

Hopefully if someone else gets the rights to Yu-Gi-Oh! they wont do so much editing out on characters like Aki (i mean really they never did a lot of editing of Mai or Alexis in the original and GX). And hopefully a new company wont make so many changes to the English dubs. Lets just hope things get settle before the end of 5D's.--elementalknight (talkcontribs) 18:17, March 30, 2011 (UTC)

As well as refresh the whole old show; Duel Monster and GX. So we can actually to see the finishing Season 4 of GX in "Dub". --FredCat 18:24, March 30, 2011 (UTC)

I wanna do the article xD I would pretty much vote for TV Tokyo to get a new division in the USA...and the idea for re-dubbing Original and GX sounds good. Although I wonder why 4kids still has YGO 5D's episodes in their lineup for Saturday...or so says my Comcast TV schedule. Fluffiness (talkcontribs) 21:20, March 30, 2011 (UTC)

All I want is that Funimation not getting the rights to Yu-Gi-Oh! Why? Well let me just pop something of interest here. http://www.byond.com/members/BYOND?command=view_post&post=111344 To sum this up for you all, that website hosts many fan games of anime and other genres of gaming, two of which are Yugioh fan games that are really popular. Now Funimation has pulled the plug of 24+ custom games such as Naurto and DBZ because of infringing copyright BS. So if Funi does get Yugioh, me and the many other gamers of this site will lose a major role of our day, building decks with custom cards and Anime/Manga cards and so forth. All I'm saying is that no one should own Yugioh in the US. It'd be better this way anyways, since 5D's just ended. Adamtheamazing64 (talkcontribs) 00:21, March 31, 2011 (UTC)

As I said above, someone will have the rights to YGO once the dust settles. It's way too profitable in the U.S. to let it drop. And Funi may well have had a legitimate case there, depending on to what degree the games drew from the original frachises, and especially if anyone was making money off of the games. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 01:12, March 31, 2011 (UTC)
  • So, you want Yu-Gi-Oh! to not get licensed just because it might affect some random game on the internet that you spend way too much time on? That's objective.--YamiWheeler (talkcontribs) 16:51, March 31, 2011 (UTC)

I'd like to check out that site. I'm confused: why will the site take of the games? I don't see why it would hurt anyone to have more Anime, although I'm certainly not a big fan of it.BobaFett2 (talk)

Considering the complaint specifically names Funimation as the party that 4Kids conspired with to commit fraud against TV Tokyo/NAS, and hide profits, I don't think Funimation will ever get the license, as much as many would love it. More likely, Viz will get it because they can put out a good product, as well as market it better than 4kids ever could. 174.31.243.73 (talk) 23:55, April 4, 2011 (UTC)

Viz would do a good job with dubbing. Funimation screwed the proverbial pooch conspiring with another company. Irohanihoheto (talkcontribs) 04:06, April 5, 2011 (UTC)

4Kids files for bankruptcy

Well here's the next story in this little suit, 4 Kids Entertainment has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, so what does this mean for 4Kids, and how does it affect the suit? How will it affact the dubbing of 5Ds or even Zexal? Discuss...

...BassNettoHikari2...Talk to me... 06:04, April 8, 2011 (UTC)

It's just a ploy to save their sorry buts. I don't buy it. Irohanihoheto (talkcontribs) 12:46, April 8, 2011 (UTC)

They're probably making a lot of money. I agree with Irohanihoheto.BobaFett2 (talk)

I do not think anyone is fooled by this ploy. This bankruptcy bs is just to keep them from getting their a**es sued of by TV Tokyo. Irohanihoheto (talkcontribs) 17:00, April 15, 2011 (UTC)

Exactly, even i know that this is just a ruse to keep them from getting taken to the cleaners. I mean it doesn't take a lawyer or a criminal justice major to know that's what 4Kids is doing.--elementalknight (talkcontribs) 21:43, April 15, 2011 (UTC)

First thing I thought when I heard of this: LK needs to make fun of it. xD This brings me much joy and I hope TV Tokyo and NAS get to totally destroy 4Kids. =D --96.250.23.144 (talk) 01:06, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

  • Amen brother, the amount of disrespect 4kids has portayed compared to the original anime is beyonds words. I sincerely hope ther get absolutely destroyed never to even speak a syllable of trash dubbing, or even lay a finger on the original animes. 86.44.150.169 (talk) 02:28, May 1, 2011 (UTC)Voltic
